Luffy being sorted into Gryffindor came as no surprise. After all, the boy practically embodied the stereotypical Gryffindor traits: brave, daring, reckless, and hot-headed. Zoro had half-expected the witch to get put in Slytherin, being sly and manipulative and all, but he couldn't really say he was surprised when the Hat declared her a lion as well. The ero-cook had been sorted in Gryffindor as well (Zoro suspected it had something to do with chivalry), along with Chopper and Usopp. As cowardly as the latter was, Zoro had always known where he would go. After all, no matter how terrified he claimed he was, Usopp always stood up for his friends…most of the time, anyway.
So, apparently being the only one apart from Luffy with a last name (what the heck was up with that, anyway?), Zoro was the last of the Straw Hats to be sorted. When the bespectacled woman finally called his name, he heaved himself up and gruffly made his way to the chair, where he took the Hat and shoved it roughly on his head. The old, tattered fabric hung in front of his eyes and he sat there, unmoving as he heard a voice start to speak…well, he thought it was in his mind, but he couldn't really tell, seeing as how nobody had ever spoken to him in his mind before.
Such potential…your future looks bright, young man…
Yeah, whatever, Zoro thought. Just hurry up and put me in Gryffindor so I can join my friends already.
Now, now, don't be so hasty…hmm…however, it is true that you possess many Gryffindor qualities…bravery, audacity, and nerve…also quite hot-blooded, I see…
So it's decided, isn't it? Stop blabbering and put me in Gryffindor already!
Gutsy as well…yes, I think Gryffindor would suit you quite well…oh? Such tenacity…you possess an incredible amount of sheer willpower, young man, much like that other boy earlier. And...Merlin's hat!
What now? Zoro asked, irritated.
Such…such loyalty! Yes, I think I know in which house you belong, my boy…
Wait…what? Zoro asked his heart pounding. Something was not right here.
Yes, without a doubt…
Zoro's eyes widened. You wouldn't—
"HUFFLEPUFF!"
