Nightmare
6th Year
For as long as Albus had known him, Scorpius had always had nightmares. He used to wake up screaming and crying. He never talked about what they were about, but Albus wished that he would tell him.
Halfway through first year they found a solution.
It was the night after a particularly bad nightmare, Albus woke up in the middle of the night to Scorpius shaking his shoulder.
"Scorpius, what's wrong?" he asked, sitting up and rubbing his eyes.
"I can't sleep; I'm just, I'm kinda afraid." He whispered. He looked really scared. Albus thought for a minute.
"Do you want to sleep with me tonight?" Scorpius looked at him, confused. "I just know that whenever Lily, James and I have a nightmare we go and sleep with our parents, it helps."
"Even James?"
"Yeah, but don't tell anyone. He doesn't want anyone to know 'cause he wants to look tougher than he really is. So do you want to?" Scorpius thought for a second.
"Okay." Scorpius said, crawling into Albus' bed
"Night Scorp."
"Night Al."
"…"
"… Hey Al."
"Hmm."
"Thanks."
Ever since that night the two boys have slept together. Sleeping with someone kept Scorpius' nightmares away. No one outside of their dorm knew of Scorpius' nightmares, nor that the two boys slept in the same bed. The other boys didn't have a problem with it, if only for the reason that they were no longer woken up nightly by Scorpius' screams.
You know how when you were little and you couldn't get to sleep without your teddy bear, Albus found it was like that now. He always had a much better sleep with his arms wrapped around Scorpius.
Albus heard the door open. A few minutes later Scorpius was in bed, curled into Albus' chest. Albus wrapped his arms around the blond boy, the same way he had been doing for years.
"Night Albus."
"Night Scorpius."
