In the nightmares
hellooo this is my first fanfic so plz read 'n' review .
this just came to me when I was watching firefly and BAM nightmares , even the greatest baddass of all time cannot protect herself from her own subconcious . eeery but anyway onwards and upwards dear friends
River sat up quickly opening her eyes and crying out. She scrambled into a tight corner of the room , breathing heavily her mind filled with images of needles,lab coats and death , so much death ...
the door opened and simon ran in with a worried look on his face. "I'm here mei-mei " he said in a hushed tone
River however still did not meet his eyes . " i't was only a dream don't worry " he whispered trying but failing to pry her hands away from her face.
"no" she answered her voice steady " nightmare ... an unconscious state of mind where your worst fears haunt you but ... I don't know if it's a memory or my imagination and I can't wake up , can't open my eye's , can't come back to life". she babbled all of this while sporadically tapping her index finger to her tempal silent tears streaming down her face .
" shhhhh it's ok, it's ok your awake now that's all that matters ok?" he said " no" she answered shaking her vigorously " it will happen again , never geos away for good always comes back always lurking " " well when it happens again we'll deal with it then alright ?"
"ok" she answered meekly and then looked up at him her demeanor changing completely because she knew it would get better it already was.
The dreams were becomig less frequent , less vivid and with simon there it only added to her belief that things were getting better because he always took care of her.
