Okay, another Bella Edward fic... Why does Bella always cry in these stories...? Ah well, in the next one she'll be happy...
"Urg!" Bella screeched, "I just don't get it!"
Edward barely looked up at his friend's outburst; he was used to ignoring her grumbles of complaint and exasperating pencil throwing moments. They were almost through their eighth grade year, and Bella was not looking forward to it.
Edward had tried to remind her on numerous occasions that they would indeed be going to the same high school, and there for it was not the end, but she still was freaking out about it. After a minute Edward looked up at Bella and grinned.
"Do you want help Bella?" He asked, ever the gentleman.
Bella shot him a death glare, "Fine," she said, as if to say, why are you the smart one?
After working through several algebraic equations that were a bit difficult even for a Middle-schooler, Edward looked up from the table to see tears in Bella's eyes.
"Bella?" he whispered, wiping her tears away.
"Sorry," she murmured, "It's just…"
Edward waited but when no response came he asked, "Just what?"
Bella sniffed and said, "Are things gonna change in high school?"
Edward saw the fear in her large brown eyes, and he remembered that first day he met her in Kindergarten, when she was so scared of trying out for the spring program. He broke through his train of thought with a bit of difficulty and steadied himself mentally.
"Well, some things are going to change. The classes are going to be harder, but we'll probably have a bit more freedom, and they probably won't serve Kool Aid at the socials anymore," He assured her, grinning a little lopsided grin.
Bella shook her head. "No," she explained, "I mean us. Are we still gonna be friends in high school?"
Edward did a double take to make sure he wasn't hearing things. No, from the looks of Bella's bright red face and downcast eyes, she was serious. Edward smiled and gently took one of Bella's hands in his own.
"We will always be friends. Nothing will ever change that," He said, his bright green eyes flashing with such intensity Bella felt her heart melt.
She nodded, trying desperately to ignore the butterflies in her stomach as Edward kept her hand in his. Her pulse jumped as he gave her hand a gentle squeeze. He then turned back to his homework, his hand almost reluctantly letting go of her own. Or was that her imagination?
Either way, there was no way she could focus on homework now.
So, whatdaya think? What age should they be in the next one? I will never know if you don't REVIEW...
