Disclaimer: If CSI were mine things would be very different… but it's not, so things are as they are and it's definitely not my fault.

Summary: How the day starts in the Grissom household lately. (My first drabble. )

He sits at their dining table. Alone. Again.

His forearms rest on the table, hands loosely encircle his near empty coffee cup.

Across from him is a chair that matches the one he currently sits on. Empty. Still.

A full cup of tepid coffee waits on the table at her place. A splash of cream. Two sugars.

He stares at it as he has done for the last twenty-odd minutes. Silent. Lost.

He wonders when that chair will have its occupant back, when that second cup of coffee will no longer go to waste.

Or when he is finally going to stop pouring two cups.
