In Annie's Eyes

Meeting Finnick:

At reaping day that year, the year of the 70th Hunger Games, I was so scared. When the escort called my name, it was almost like a bad dream. I don't remember going up there and shaking the other tribute's hand. It was all a daze, it didn't feel real. All I remember is the horrifying train ride to the capitol. Then the mentor came in, he looked young. He had bright blonde hair and sea green eyes. To me he was gorgeous, but I think everyone in the world thought the same as me. I froze; I didn't talk nor move, I looked like a statue. He started talking, but the whole world seemed blurry, the only thing in focus, was him. I couldn't hear what he was saying, I think he noticed and he told me to sit down. I obeyed. My fellow tribute looked annoyingly at me, but I didn't notice nor care. The thing that was probably going through his head at the time was 'she's taking away time from getting advice from our mentor'. And it was true; Finnick was trying to wake me up from my beautiful dream. When I finally snapped out of it, everyone was gone but him. "That was quite a dream there, wasn't it?" he said. "I must've fallen asleep. How long have I been like this?" I reply. He says, "Ohh, I don't know, a couple hours." Have I really been gone that long? What was he doing in the time that I was asleep? Could he have been watching me? I quickly change the subject, "So any advice on surviving the arena?" "I think I said everything I have to say to your partner," he laughs, "but I can repeat it to you if you'd like." He tells me everything I need to know about the games, from hunting, to finding shelter and keeping warm, to defending yourself.

( I have decided to not write about what happens in the arena, it is up to interpretation. There is too much blood and gore, and it would take forever and I don't have that kind of time.)

After the Games:

I don't think I could've made it without Finnick's advice. Once the last tribute has fallen, it is all a daze again. I remember fragments though. I remember: me floating into a spaceship paralyzed, me being strapped into a bed with a tube feeding me morphling, a blinding white room, Finnick's face being so close to mine, and his voice calling my name somewhere in the distance, though he's standing right in front of me. Suddenly I jerk up, like waking up from a nightmare. Calming faces of the capital doctors, try to pacify me, but I freak out. The give me a strange shot and I doze off into another world. When I wake I don't see the faces of the doctors, but of Finnick and the gamemaker. They try to calm me and they are successful. The tension in my body relaxes. They told me I went on a rampage and destroyed some valuable equipment. The doctors had to knock me out and put me in restraints because of my outburst. Now Finnick is trying to tell me that the doctors have made the decision that I am cracked, not in the right mind.
