"No! Please! You can't leave me here!" Zeke held Sharpay back as she kicked and screamed while trying to reach out to the coffin was slowly being lowered into the ground.
Kelsey walked over to Sharpay and touched her shoulder. "It's okay, Sharpay." But she had tears in her eyes, too. Sharpay collapsed into Zeke's arms.
When the burial was over, Zeke guided Sharpay to his car. "No, Zeke, I won't let her go! I can't make it without her!"
"Sharpay, this is not how Gabriella would've wanted this to be. She had a great life, remember?" Zeke asked her.
Sharpay became and looked in her lap. As the car pulled out of the lot, she saw Troy out of the corner of her eye. He was by himself, hands in his pockets, looking at Gabriella's grave. He was crying, thought Sharpay could tell that he agreed with Zeke.
Later that night, Sharpay found herself sneaking out of her house and running to the cemetery. She lay beside her best friend, and looked up at the stars.
"It's not fair, I know. You weren't drinking. You knew your stuff about how bad alcohol can be… it was a fun party…how could it have gone so wrong? If only those stupid boys hadn't driven…THEY WERE DRUNK! They got hurt pretty bad by the crash, Gabriella. But I suffered the most. It's painful. I feel so bad, all the time." Sharpay started to cry again. "I feel no comfort!"
Just then, Zeke came out from behind a tree. He walked over to her and lay beside her. She put her head on his chest, and ha wrapped his arms around her. "This better?"
"A little." It was quiet for a couple minutes. "It's not so much the fact that she's gone, but more the realization that I'm never gonna see her again."
"You will." He said. "You just have to be patient. But don't worry, we all feel bad about this. We're all suffering. We're all gonna miss her. You should feel comfort because there are so many of us… we're all in this together.
