"Brother?"

The timid voice shocked Edward out of his reverie. He stopped spacing out for a moment and returned to earth, looking beside him at the towering suit of armor looking up at the night sky.

"Yeah?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.

The younger Elric remained silent for a few moments, hesitating. He was a bit afraid to tell his brother what he wanted to tell him. He didn't want to make him feel bad...but he just wanted to know.

"Yeah?" Ed tried again, sounding a little softer this time. It seemed Al was debating whether to tell him something or not, so he tried being as gentle as he could be.

Al sighed, and his huge gaunlets folded tighter on his lap as he asked,

"Is it cold tonight or is it warm?"

Ed blinked, the wave of guilt washing over him once again. Al couldn't feel the cool breeze like he could. He sighed, and turned away as he said,

"It's kinda hot out, but the cool night breeze makes up for it. It's cool out. Nice weather."

"Oh." Al lowered his head. He knew he made his brother feel bad. "That sounds nice."

"It is." Ed replied monotonously.

There was a rather awkward silence. Ed was trying very hard not to look upset, but Al read him well. Al sighed and muttered to himself, "I shouldn't have said anything."

"What was that, Al?"

Alphonse always forgot that Edward had sharp ears. Al quickly tried to cover his tracks,

"Um, I just said that we should be heading inside soon. I don't want you getting sick, brother."

Al was a terrible liar. And both brothers knew that.

But this time, Ed chose to let it go. He rose, stretched, and yawned,

"You're right, Al. We should be heading inside."

Ed turned and went inside.

Al sighed sadly.

He was never going to ask him these questions ever again.

Another one-shot where I was bored. Good? Bad? Horrible? Splendid? Let me know.
