Good-Bye
Hiei's leaving on a mission in which he won't return. This is the final time his lover will see him. A heart breaking good-bye.....
The waves crashed against the rocks far below as I stood at the cliff, a foot from the edge, looking over the calm ocean.
This was one of my favorite spots and I would usually enjoy being here, but today was different.
"Do you really have to go?" I asked, not looking ober at the man beside me.
"Andi," the man sighed. "You really are annoying. How many times do I have to repeat myself?" His back was turned to me, his hands in the pockets of his cloak.
"I know, I know. But why Hiei?"
Hiei shook his head and smirked. "Now you're just procrastinating, onna."
I sighed. "I know, but I hate that this is good-bye." I turned to the demon with a sad expression.
Hiei turned slightly so that he could look over his shoulder at me with an expressionless gaze.
"This is something I have to do," He said, "Alone," he added, seeing that I was about to say something and turned fully around.
I closed my eyes and opened them again as a single tear trailed down my cheek.
I smiled to tell him not to worry.
"If I don't go, everybody will die. But I'm not doing this for everybody, I'm doing this for Yukina." He turned to face the ocean, and even though he didn't voice it, I knew he was doing this for me also.
I mocked his actions to find myself entranced by the water once more.
"When you return-"
"I won't," Hiei interupted sternly.
I closed my eyes, took a deep breath and let it out slowly as I tucked a lock of blonde hair back behing my ear.
"I'll be waiting, you can't stop me from doing that."
"Don't waste your life doing such a useless thing, Onna."
"I can waste my life however I want! What else am I supposed to do with it, with you gone?!" I yelled, stomping a foot towards him, tears streaming down my face.
"I'm leaving and I won't be coming back." He said, suddenly only a few inches away from me.
My tears slowed.
"Good-bye....Andi."
Before I knew what was happening, he reached up and kissed me.
I closed my eyes, and when I opened them again, he was gone.
I smiled sadly, holding my hair out of my face as the wind viontly whipped through it. Tears, slowly, silently, streamed down my face.
"I love you...Hiei....good-bye."
