Hi.. this is my first Pokémon fic, so I'd like to have my mistakes and whatnot pointed out to me ^_^; I hope you like. Enjoy!

The perfect smoothness of the pebble's surface was rubbed between a pair of pale fingertips. It sailed through the air, landing in the water with a dismal splash.

A sigh issued from the rock thrower, a girl named Ivy. She tossed her caramel colored hair behind her shoulder and lowered eyes of a matching hue.

'So boring..' the girl reached out a hand and absently scratched her Meowth behind the ears. 'And blistering hot, too.' The Meowth didn't seem to care-- all it did was continue to purr softly.

Ivy shoved her hands in her pants pockets and felt around. A few lone coins clinked around loosely, but that was all. She sighed again and rested her head on her hands. 'There aren't any new trainers around either.. '

They were located just outside of Fuschia City, Ivy leaning against a sun-splashed wall and her Meowth perched on top of it, looking down at the still water below. Suddenly, the cat Pokémon sat up, watching a passerby who looked very well-off: he had a haughty-looking Arcanine following at his heels, and in his hand a bag of what looked like money.

'Meow Meowth!' The Meowth took a leap, and landed on the boy's shoulders.

'Trebax?' Ivy called after her Pokémon, but he didn't respond.

'Hey!' the boy shouted. 'Scram!' Trebax, quick as lightning, reached down and snagged the bag with an extended claw. He flipped it up and caught it in his mouth before running like the wind.

'Come back here!' The bag's previous owner screamed furiously. He took off after Trebax and so did the Arcanine, barking and growling deep in its throat ferociously.

'Hey!' Ivy leaped in their path.

'What do you want?!' he tried to shove her out of his way. His dog Pokémon stopped short. 'Ar?'

'Uh..' Think fast! '.. Your Arcanine isn't on a leash,' she finished lamely. Of course, there was no such thing as a leash law for Pokémon.

'So?!' he snarled impatiently. The Arcanine barked furiously. The two of them shoved Ivy to the ground and raced down the street int eh direction Trebax had gone.

'.. Ow.'

'Meeowth!' Ivy looked up. It was Trebax, grinning slyly. He was sitting calmly on the roof of a house just above where his trainer was standing. In the brief confusion he'd leaped to the roof of a house, and had jumped from roof to roof until he saw Ivy again. She smiled and held her hands up, cupped like a basket. Trebax tossed the stolen bag to her, and she caught it.

'Let's see how much we got!' she fumbled at the knot in haste.

'Mrow!' Trebax landed deftly beside her.

'Got it.' Ivy had undone the tie, and she held the bag upside down to empty the contents greedily. Four different elemental evolution stones rolled out. 'Ohh!' she complained loudly, having no idea what they were. 'What do I want with a bunch of rocks?!'

Before she or Trebax could utter anything more, a new voice cut in.

'That was a clumsy steal,' it said with a wicked-sounding tone. 'But that's alright.. it's the thought that counts.'

Ivy, who was still seated on the ground, raised her head to look at the speaker. An older, teenage girl stood there in a defiant stance, in a sparkling outfit that bore a big, red 'R' on the front.

'But that's where we come in,' she continued, grinning. She extended her hand to the girl on the ground. 'So, need a hand?'
