WarBringers:

A Matrix/BGC Crossover by Gillian Moya in Three Parts

Part One - "I Need An Exit, Fast!"

"So. Just 'cause of this kid Morpheus found, all other ships are to return to Zion? I gotta job to do!"

"Not every ship. Just yours, and two others. Tachyon and Digz are on their way home."

"They don't know what we do."

"…And that is?"

"The Machine is visible in the Matrix."

"You keep saying that."

The tunnels underneath the Old City sprawled like a tentacled beast. Labyrinthine in nature, they spread for miles. The good ship Mikado passed slowly through, and stopped; broadcast depth.

"Chyld, Poindexter, and Ghost; you three scope out the center. The rest of us will start bringing them to us." The foreboding figure of the Sarge looked impassively at the seven chairs that hotwired their neural patterns into the Matrix.

"They must be taken alive. No harm is to come to them."

Chyld scratched her short black hair. "We've seen them in action. What's to stop them from attacking us?"

Sarge smiled. Kinda. Sarge could only smile like an executioner; cold and heartless.

"Are you saying that these vigilantes pose more of a threat than those agents? You can't dodge railguns, or High Velocity ammo? Come now… Railguns hum before firing, and the agents use HV ammo. Just don't stop moving once you've started."

A Scotsman looked at Sarge. "Sair, I dinnae wanna be a prollum, bu'… me swords…"

Sarge shook his head. "Rook, if you're bringing your blasted swords, you go with Chyld and the others. I do not see what use there is for twenty- five pounds of steel. Nevertheless, back up Chyld. She'll need it."

Rook saluted, and prepped for transit. "Wun's reddi, sair!" The others set up as well.

"Checked up, and good to go, Arch."

Their operator activated the transit program, and looked over at Sarge. One curt nod later, the eight freedom fighters were screaming through cyberspace.

"We're in." Sarge hung up the hard line, and gestured to Alpha group. "Move out." Nods, and the two teams separated.
