A/N: I do not own Naruto. I only own Sumire Fubiki, Makiko Amane and Kaien. Chiaki Hasegawa is my best friend's OC.
Will of the Shining Light
Chapter 1:
"You should look more girly; after all, you ARE a girl!" She was shouting at me and pointing her tongue at me. How'd I end up with her as my best friend?
"No way, you're not getting me into that!" I pointed at the ugly thing she held with her right hand.
"But it suits you so well, Sumire!" she could plead as much as she wanted, I would still not be wearing a dress. Only place would be my OWN wedding, which will probably never happen because; 1) my friend usually do something stupid to scare the guys away. No offence to my other friend, which is a guy, but it's he who scares them away…. 2) I apparently look too "boyish".
"I am still not wearing a dress!" my arms were crossed as I made an unhappy sulking face.
"Girls, please. Stop fighting or I have to get a new team before noon!" our sensei threatened. There were never empty threats with her.
"Makiko-sensei, what are we doing today, anyway?" Kaien asked. Kaien was my friend who is a guy. I can never call him boyfriend. People mistake it too easily nowadays.
"Well, I was thinking of team-bonding…" she pointed her index finger in her temples and looked seriously at us as I still had silent battles with Akira. "…With other teams." We all looked at her wide-eyed. We had never worked with another team. Only Kaien had managed to become special Jonin in our group. I and Akira were still Genins...
"But, we've never worked with other teams…" It was a unnecessary fact that escaped my lips.
"I know that, Sumire. Still, the Hokage thinks this would be good for you. For god's sake…"she threw her hands in the air and laughed. "You're 19. You should be able to do that, even with a team with only kids".
"When?" I asked. We had right to know.
"Tomorrow."
We got only to know that we were to meet up at the gates, fully packed, at 8 AM. I wondered what team it was, so I asked. She smiled and told me wise words; "None of your fu**ing business!" I was about to tell her otherwise, but was interfered by Akira.
"Let's just go home…" she whispered to me so she couldn't hear it.
THE NEXT DAY
I woke up, looking straight at rainy weather. I had a window over my bed, but it worked well as a door too, seeing that I liked sitting at the roof a lot. Akira and I shared an apartment because of the fact that both of us earn too little money and I'm a mess-head and she has dirt on her mind. Besides, I can't cook.
"Are you awake, Akira?" I looked at the other end of the room. "Akira?"
There was a huge bundle of cloth and blanket lying there. "Akira?"
"I'm here sleepy-head." She waved from the bathroom as I decided what to wear. I decided on a gray t-shirt, a black pair of jonin-pants and a black vest-like thing with a huge collar and zipper with the Konoha symbol necklace attached to it. It also had a zipper thing on the side and minimal sized chain thing on the left side.
Akira came out of the bathroom.
"Are you going to wear those?" she asked pointing at me.
"Yes, I am" I said proudly and went to the bathroom with my hitae-ate in my left hand. I brushed my red hair and put the hitae-ate on. I had bangs that went to the sides and a little hair that went in front of my ears. The rest, I put behind. My bangs only reached to my eyes, but not uncomfortable. My hair didn't even reach my shoulders, about one and a half inch to go, and was shorter on the back than in the front.
"You should wear something girly…" she mumbled. But I could hear it.
"We're going on what seems like a camping trip, not a fashion show." I said jokingly with toothpaste on my brush as I held it under the running water.
"Darn." She laughed hard. "Guess I have to change then." She did.
Kaien was sick, so he wouldn't be joining, and Makiko-sensei was on a new mission to the sand village.
"You remembered the tent?" Akira asked as I looked at the buildings we passed as we were walking towards the gates.
"Yes, I did."
"Did you remember food?"
"Yeah, yeah." I waved her hand in the air. I laughed a little. It was rather amusing living with her, since she's so funny when she doesn't get it.
At the gates we saw a small group of kids; a blonde one, a raven-haired duck-butt and a pinkie pie. The raven-haired boy was slightly taller than the others, but the blond one was shortest. The blonde one was shouting at the raven-haired guy and the pink haired girl was shouting at the blonde.
"Can you guys quit it before I lose my temper?" I asked from a distance, loud enough for them to hear.
"It'd be best to listen. When she gets mad, there's no stopping her." Akira whispered to them. I glared at her.
"Are you only two?" the pink haired girl asked.
"We were supposed to be three, but our sensei is going to the sand and our team-mate is sick." I looked at Akira again, seeing that she nodded.
"Where is your sensei?" I asked as I looked around a little.
"He's late again. Not surprising actually…" the pink haired girl answered.
"Oh, well… We should introduce ourselves. I am Fubiki Sumire. This is my friend Hasegawa Akira." I said as I pointed at Akira. She pinted at the raven-haired boy.
"This is, thee he-"I could not believe this. She was going to be a pain in the ass…. "This is Sasuke-kun." Then her face became angry as she pointed at the blonde. "That is Naruto-"from him I heard a slight "Believe it." Then she smiled again. "And I am Sakura."
"Uh huh…." I said as I looked weirdly at them. Our backpacks were heavy, so to put them down.
After some time, a tall silver-haired guy approached. His hitae-ate was covering his left eye and he wore a mask.
"Yo."
"YOU'RE LATE!!" all except Sasuke shouted.
"Yeah, you see I saw a black cat crossing-"he rubbed his neck.
"YOU'RE LYING!!!"
I interrupted their little fight, and re-introduced us. He told us his name; Hatake Kakashi.
As we walked the path to the place where we were supposed to camp, I wondered about so much. Even though I forgot it after I thought it. Akira was blabbering about how fun this was going to be and pointed at pinkie-pie. I guessed she was sarcastic. I laughed. The sensei was walking behind us, and the kids in the front. We were even joking about him.
"Wonder what that book is about…?" I asked as I giggled to Akira.
"Well, one way to find out." She answered. I understood we had the same idea. It was great plan!
"We'll steal it later." We agreed as we looked back seeing him peek over his book. We could not help but grinning as he looked puzzled.
After some time, nearly the whole day, we reached our goal. It was a beautiful spot with a waterfall and a pond not far from here. We even packed bikinis. I put the bags down on the grass and searched for our tent.
"Oh no…" I muttered.
"What?" Akira asked coming towards me and put her bags down.
"I forgot the tent…" I calmly explained.
"WHAT?!" after that, she was speechless.
I went over at Kakashi-sensei.
"Do you by any chance have an extra tent?" I asked casually as if there was nothing wrong. He stood up from the ground. He had already put his tent up 10 meters away. For what reason, don't know? He probably thinks it's safer.
"You forgot a tent?"
"Yeah and-" I did not manage to say more before he called on Sakura.
"Can you let one of the girl share tent with you?" he asked Sakura as she came close.
"Why not both?" I asked.
"Not enough room…" she replied. "But okay."
"What with the other one?" Then it struck me. The answer was as I feared.
"The other one has to share with me. Or sleep outside." I bowed, but I sweat, which I hoped he didn't see. I went to Akira.
"Okay, one of us shares with Sakura and the other With Kakashi-sensei."
"What?! You'll take Kakashi, and I take Sakura!" she stated.
"Why?! Let's do rock-paper-scissor on that." It ended with me losing. I picked my bags up and went to his tent, my stomach giving me a strange feeling. It was probably hunger. The trees were thick, and it was not funny. My headband almost slipped off.
"So, I'll be sharing with you?" he asked in a happy tone.
"Yeah, sadly enough" the last part I whispered.
"Chose side." He pointed inside the tent.
"Right side." I called.
"Right…" he seemed to be smiling under that mask of his. Not that I would know, but it was a simple guess. I figured out if I woke up before him, I'd steal- borrow that book of his. Whenever the opportunity comes.
Nightfall came. Akira and I were mostly sitting by the waterfall admiring the beauty of it. Talking about what we usually did.
"So why aren't you dating anyone?" she suddenly asked. We didn't even talk about something related to boyfriends or anything.
"Haven't found the right guy, I guess. Someone who can tolerate you." We laughed. A guy who could tolerate her had to be a guy with the rank higher than Chunin. Most guys who are special Jonin or just Jonin are too old. I shivered at the thought.
"What was that?" Akira looked weird at me.
"The thought I was thinking; the thought of having an old guy as a boyfriend."
"Why were you thinking that?"
"Because a guy who can tolerate you, must be a high-ranked guy." Then it hit me, I grinned, a high-ranked guy had probably more experience.
"What are you smiling for?" she laughed.
"High-ranked ninjas are experienced." A huge grin appeared on my face before we laughed out 'til it hurt.
"Well, Kakashi-sensei is Jonin…" she said pushing on my shoulder. I pointed my tongue at her.
"He's TOO old. Probably over fifty."
"Let's ask him!" she said grabbing my wrist and dragged me towards his tent.
"Why?"
"For fun, honey." She chuckled.
"But I don't want to!" Before I knew it, I was before his tent. He was inside.
"HEY! Kakashi-sensei? We have something to ask of you…"
"What may that be?" he replied walking out of the tent, while Akira was still holding my wrist.
