Upon a Star
"The stars looks absolutely breathtaking aren't they Natsume?" an eighteen year old brunette girl said.
"You bother my sleep to look at the stars?" an annoyed crimson eyed lad said.
"Yep." Mikan grinned at him.
"You're troublesome." Natsume sighed.
"But you love me." Mikan said.
"Fine, you win." Natsume said yawning.
"Sleepy?" Mikan said
"What do you think?" Natsume said with sarcasm.
"Better?" Mikan said pulling his head into her lap for him to use as a pillow.
"Hn."
"Oh look a shooting star!" Mikan said pointing to the sky.
After a few seconds the shooting star disappeared.
"Why didn't you wish for anything?" Natsume asked his girlfriend.
"I realize something. Say do you know why shooting stars appear only for a few seconds?" Mikan asked looking at the starry evening sky.
"It's because wishes were never meant to be granted." Mikan continued an aura of maturity surrounded her.
"And why is that?"
"We humans have lots of desire we want to fulfill. If wishing can make them all be fulfill, then life with be easy and we don't need to work hard anymore to achieve them."
"We'll lose the will to live because wishing erases all our desires by granting it."
"Who are you and what have you done to my idiotic, childish girlfriend?"
"Hey! I'm trying to be serious here."
"There's nothing wrong with wishing Polka."
"Hmmm? I didn't say it's wrong to wish I just said...."
"I know what you said but aren't you the one who said wishing is a mere act to gain hope in hard times, years ago?"
"Eh?"
Flashback
"Look Natsume the meteor shower is starting!" a twelve year old Mikan said.
"So?"
"Don't you want to make a wish?" she asked.
"I don't believe in wishing. Only idiots believe in wishes."
"Hey! There's nothing wrong with wishing!"
"Yeah yeah, be quite Ichigo." Natsume said.
Mikan ignored Natsume's name for her and said "Come on make a wish Natsume."
"No."
"Please."
"No."
"Pretty please?"
"No." he said sternly before Mikan could give her puppy dog eyes.
"Fine." Mikan pouted "Then I'll make a wish for you."
She clasped her hands together and closed her eyes.
Natsume sighed "Even if you make a wish it won't come true baka."
"I know." Mikan said her eyes still closed.
"But it's rather a way for me to gain strength and hope so that every time you do a mission I'll be able to wait for you." Mikan opened her eyes and smiled warmly at him.
"You're an idiot." Natsume said and pulled her into a hug.
End of Flashback
"You still remember that Natsume. I'm so embarrassed." she said hiding blushing face with her hands.
"You don't need to wish in stars anymore." Natsume said sitting up.
"Demo....." she said her hands still in her face.
Natsume pulled her left hand and slipped something in it.
"It's my promise to you. I won't go anywhere even if I do I'll always return to you. No matter what. I'll protect you so....."
"Marry me."
Tears formed in Mikan's chocolate brown eyes. She embraced Natsume tightly.
"I will."
This is just a short dabble. I'm still looking for something to inspire me to write my stories. Anyway hope you like this short fluff I did. Thanks for reading.
