James Potter was confused. He had absolutely no idea what had just happened. He felt as though he had been hit over the head by a troll. Yes, they were friends, and yes she had finally agreed to one date, but never in a million years had he believed this could happen.
"Oy, mate! You're scaring me," exclaimed Sirius Black, unnerved by his best friend's behavior. James couldn't answer. He looked at his friends dazedly.
Remus laughed and shook his head, "You know, it's not the end of the world. We all knew it was coming, Prongs. Especially after everything that's happened this year."
"Oh, Prongs, you have to know that it's all for the better," Peter said, looking at him with pity.
"I'm hungry," Sirius said, his stomach growling.
And then, James couldn't contain himself. He let out a loud whoop and ran after the desirable redhead, "Oy, Evans!" he said, catching up with her inside Honeydukes.
"Potter," she said indifferently, paying for her sugar quills at the register. Then she walked out. It took him a second to realize she had left. He ran after her again. This time, he stopped in front of her, blocking the path.
"Get out of my way, Potter," she said firmly. She looked beautiful with her hair loose, strands blowing softly in the wind. Her bright green eyes held that look of intelligence; the one that showed she knew more than she let on.
He took a step closer to her. She remained silent. He took another step. Still nothing. Then, feeling particularly brave, he brushed a small strand of hair away from her eyes, and tucked it behind her ear, bringing his hand down to cup her cheek.
She shivered at his touch and closed her eyes. She could feel his breath on her face. And then she felt nothing but pure bliss, as they were joined as one, each holding on to the other for dear life.
Finally, it seemed hours later, they broke apart to stare at one another while gasping for breath.
"I hope you know that this means you'll have to break up with the Giant Squid. I mean, it's pretty obvious you'd rather go out with me," he grinned.
She laughed out loud and shook her head at his antics.
"What? You kissed me first. I just came by to return the favor," he said, still disbelieving of his good fortune.
She smiled and kissed him again.
"Aw, wook at the wittle wuvbirds," came Sirius's sarcastic drawl. "Finally got their happily ever after. Now can we go eat? Please?"
