Marshal Mary Shannon woke to the sun streaming through her window, and birds chirping obnoxiously loud. Turning her head and smiling at the sight, Mary couldn't help but roll her eyes and her own behavior. Never had she felt this ridiculously happy about one person. She couldn't quite decide if she wanted to kill herself for being so cliché, or bask in the feeling. Remembering that it was Sunday and the couple had absolutely nowhere else to be, Mary unwrapped herself from Marshal Marshall Mann's arms and made her way over to the window, cursing as she stubbed her toe on the corner of the bed. Reaching her destination, she slammed the window shut, effectively cutting off the irritatingly chipper sounds of nature, and gracelessly yanked the curtains together, casting the room into shadow once again.

Marshall Mann woke to the sound of his girlfriend barking out a curse and taking her anger out on the window that she had woken him at three in the morning to open. He sat up in bed, and attempted to rub the sleep from his eyes as he asked the question that was on his mind.

"Mary, what are you doing?"

"I'm trying to get some friggin' sleep, which I couldn't so because somebody opened the window." Marshall didn't bother pointing out the fact that she had woken him earlier that morning by beating him with the pillow that she had pulled out from under his head and telling him the room was too stuffy to sleep in. Instead, he gently pulled her back onto the bed and wrapped his arms around her protruding stomach before they both fell back to sleep.

Hours later Mary stood in the kitchen pouring herself a much-needed cup of coffee. She raised the cup to her lips, and felt her heart fall when it was yanked from her hands just in the nick of time.

"What the hell?" Mary glared at Marshall, when took the cup with him to the kitchen table, sipping it along the way.

"You know you're not supposed to drink caffeine, Mare," he said in a rational voice.

"Oh, yeah braniak? And why is that?"

"Studies have shown that when caffeine is consumed during pregnancy the baby has a higher risk of being malformed, as well as the fact that caffeine can increase the frequency of urination and we both know that you are in the bathroom at least every-"

"Thank you, Marshall," Mary said sarcastically. "But I don't need you to tell me how much I pee." Mary went to the table and began to eat her breakfast in silence, as if thinking over the situation. Finally she turned to Marshall and smiled.

"You know what this means, right?" she asked him as she got up and poured the remaining liquid from the coffee machine and gestured to her stomach. "This is all because of you. And if I can't drink it than neither can you." She chuckled diabolically when he sighed and shook his head.

"That's right, Doofus," she said with a grin. "Until this baby comes out, you're my bitch."
