So this is based on a headcanon. HOPE YOU LIKE IT!

All I felt, for a blinding moment, was pain. It ripped through my back, spreading throughout my body until it connected from the tips of my ears to my toes.

Then it was gone, as it it'd never been there, and I could feel nothing.

What had happened? I felt cold, oh, so cold..

Then there was something, light! Could I see again? The light, getting closer and closer and-

I remember! I remember darting into the Elder's den, grabbing Mousefur's mouse, and... and then just the noise...

The great, damaging sound of the tree splintering, falling... Tree!

That's right! The tree had fallen on top of the elders den, and- oh.

... I'm dead, aren't I? Was my only thought now as I stayed wherever I was, with just the light blinding me. Where was StarClan? What had happened?

Suddenly a voice, as clear as lightning and as soft as fur rang in my ears-

"Do not worry, Longtail, you will be joining us in StarClan soon. But before, you have another task..."

And then it faded away, like a whisper.

Suddenly the light started growing brighter and in a flash, I was back! The forest materialized around me and I found myself back in the elders den, but.. wait..

I looked down at my paws to see that they were see-through, and I looked back up and noticed that the tree had fallen directly on the elders den, crushing it completely.

I made me way around the tree, confident that no cat could see me. What was that? I spotted a flash of fur... my fur... turning away from my lifeless body, I spotted someone else.

Of course! Briarpaw had followed me! Quickly I darted inside the tree (as I had found that I could move through things as I chose) and searched for her muzzle, desperately wanting to see if she was alive.

I finally found her and looked down at her body. Her lower back was pinned underneath the tree, and she was losing blood quickly, but she was alive.

"Come one, StarClan help her," I whispered, wondering where the rest of my former clanmates were. Why wasn't anyone helping her?!

Right after that thought some of my old clanmates thundered into the den, Lionblaze and Dustpelt quickly heaving out orders. Good! They could help her!

But with another glance I could see that they would not get to her in time, so I was going to try and help!

Bracing my shoulders against the tree, I pushed, following Lionblaze's lead. My old-age weakness seemed to be gone, so I pushed and pushed.

I held up the tree along with Lionblaze I don't know how long, it sometimes feels like only heartbeats, and sometimes like moons. As soon as I felt Briarpaw leave the danger of the tree, I let it go, bounding away to watch them help her from a distance.

"Longtail.." StarClan was calling me, and now I was ready to go. I closed my eyes and let it happen.

When I opened my eyes again, I was in StarClan, with my mother, Robinwing, before me. "Will she live?" I blurted out, worried for Briarpaw.

Robinwing dipped her head, her eyes gleaming with joy. "Because of you, my son, yes."
