Disclaimer: I own nothing that you recognize. I am not J.K Rowling, I am not Vivaldi, of course, as he is dead. I hope you all enjoy it.

The strains of a violin echoed down the corridor, drawing the man closer and closer. The sounds of Vivaldi's Spring were intoxicatingly lovely, and as refreshing to him as a pardon would be to a man in Azkaban. As far as he knew, there was no one at the school with this kind of musical talent, or appreciation for this kind of music. Now, this wasn't saying much, as he didn't know that many people outside of his own house, and certainly none of them would have an appreciation for the work of Muggle composers. It was an odd liking of his, encouraged by the supposedly odd notions of his half blood father. In an effort to keep his anonymity he kept to the shadows, while steadily creeping forward, in hopes of catching a glimpse of the mysterious musician. Suddenly the music hit a wrong note, and then stopped, and he heard someone, a girl, sigh in frustration. He was tempted to step out of the shadows and scold her for being out so late, but after he saw who it was, he didn't have the heart to. The girl had lost her remaining parent the week before due to a robbery, having lost her mother a year ago due to ovarian cancer. All the teachers and students felt sorry for her, and left her to her pain, not mentioning that while her schoolwork was becoming ever more brilliant, the shadows under her eyes, and the bones under her skin, were becoming ever more prominent. She had passed the slender category weeks ago and now looked as if she was competing for the malnourished category. She avoided talking to people as much as possible, even avoiding her best friends, and had taken to disappearing during the day, though she wasn't spending time in the library studying. He had apparently just found where she vanished to.

She sighed, and began putting away her violin. It was her one indulgence since her father had died. Now that sleep was no longer much of an issue, nor were her friends, she had much more time to concentrate on her playing and schoolwork, to the improvement of both. Though she didn't feel she needed to, she decided that tonight she would sleep, at least for a few hours, since she hadn't slept last night and it was already three in the morning. She took her time about packing up, lost in mindless thought, in an unconscious effort to delay returning to her dormitory. She was grateful for the fact that she still shared rooms with the other girls, because while their incessant questions annoyed her, their incessant chatter to each other was a comforting noise in the background, reassuring her that she was not, in fact, alone. As she prepared to leave the room she noticed that she had left the door slightly ajar while she was playing, with a quiet groan for her own carelessness, she left. As she walked down the corridor she paid particular attention to all the nooks and crannies, to make sure that no one was there to catch her for being out so late. She missed, however, the one nook and cranny that someone was hiding in, and that decision would change the rest of her school year.

Author's Note: Can you guess who the characters are? This takes place in the sixth year and is in fact AU after the fourth book, those I suppose it may have some elements of the fifth book. I have not really decided where to take this yet, I was struck by inspiration from my muse, Rain. This is dedicated to her and Itty Bitty. I hope you all enjoyed, whether you did, didn't not, or are apathetic, please feel free to leave a review.
