Doomsday, here we come. . . . again.

Thirrin ran as fast as he could but he couldn't outrun It. It was gaining on him. He looked around frantically, then spotted a house and ran to it. He banged on the door and yelled for help. But no one came. He heard the scrape of claws on the cement behind him. His heart accelerated more than he thought possible, the pounding of his heart almost deafening as he turned to face It. His breath caught as he stared in Its yellows eyes, Its mouth pulled back in a snarl. It crouched as it prepared to lunge.

Thirrin could barely breath as his entire being told him to flee but there was no where to run. As it lunged he snapped his eyes shut waiting for death.

It didn't come.

He heard metal scrape the cement, and slowly opened his eyes. "Well, that was an interesting show. You really do make good bait, Thir." Thirrin glared at Jess as she grinned at him. She was standing next to the creature's remains, her sword covered in its blood. "That was not you're entertainment!" She snickered at his indignant tone and wiped the blood off her blade. "Calm down Thirrin. You know you're the faster runner, that's the only reason you were bait." Jess flipped her blade over to make sure she got all of it off. "If you knew close combat skills, you wouldn't have been that scared." Thirrin stared at the dead creature on the ground. "So what is it, anyway?" He asked as he walked around it to where Jess stood. "It's someone's pathetic attempt at summoning a werewolf." She said as she slipped her sword back into the sheath on her back.

Thirrin continued to stare at the creature as it began to disintegrate, like anything killed with that blade. The blade was made of a special metal created by Kelrekkla warriors. Even then only a few are chosen to receive weapons created of this particular metal. Only the ones who survive the choosing. Or get screwed over by family genes. Like him. "We better leave before they come." Jess said as she glanced around. Thirrin nodded and took his bow, and arrows made of the same metal as Jess' sword, back from Jess. He might not be good at close combat, but he hardly ever missed his target when it came to bows.
