Prologue
She made a banana-split and sat with the yummy treat on her lap. She watched out the window as the stars slowly appeared above her. She took the first spoonful, thankful for the coming night. She needed to be out there like she needed to breathe. It was a desire she couldn't refuse. She finished off her split in a flurry and stood to leave. She ran out the door, rushing to the woods. Soon, she was in the air, her wings and the wind making a melodious sound as she flew. She made sure she was hidden because who knows what would happen if she wasn't. She could be sent to some testing area; of worse. What scared her was not knowing if this was the last time she could fly freely and watch the stars wink at her from this view. But she had to be outside and fly again, to finally stretch her wings like she knew she was supposed to.
