She sighed. He was resting peacefully and the quiet hospital room brought a blanket of tranquility over the saddened woman. Eva was saddened by the fact that he couldn't just go home and yet was happy that they had flown Miles out of the country for several reasons. One; she was terrified that another earthquake would strike. Two; she was afraid that he would say he was fine too early and have a relapse. Third; that nurse character was getting a little too close to her, um, friend. No, here, safe back in D.C, she could keep an eye on him. That and D.C. had air conditioning.

Eva glanced over at him. Agreeing with what Stephen had said earlier, "He needs advanced medical care and around the clock observation, something he won't get here. He needs to be in a stable, clean environment." So she had agreed. She had agreed because she had sat with him, those long hours waiting while he slept. She had noticed that he was still in his dirty, torn clothes in a hot, humid room, in an old bed with smelly blanket covering him up. Now he was in a stark white room, in a white bed with white and yellow sheets and a fashionable hospital gown, she knew she had made the right choice.

She frowned, her "patient" was becoming restless. The plane flight had been long and the transferring to the hospital had been a bit bumpy but he had slept through it all. Now to wake up in the quiet room just seemed a little odd. She leaned forward, waiting quietly and listening to the rhythmic beat of the heart monitor as she gazed upon her friend and colleague. He had changed this year, both physically and mentally. Physically in ways only a girl would notice. His beautiful hair had been cut short and Eva had plans to make him avoid all barber shops until his hair grew back to it's normal length. Mentally he had changed in so many different ways. No longer was he the little boy wondering what he was supposed to be doing and getting yelled at by his superiors. Now he was taking charge of situations, saving lives, being stranded in collapsed buildings with a woman, an attractive single woman and getting sick with a deadly disease then complaining about his friends wanting him to go home to get better. So many ways. Her "patient" seemed to calm down and fall back to sleep.

She knew the real reason why Stephen had asked her to come back with Miles. He was worried as was Natalie about her and how she was doing after losing a boy she had begun to think of as son. A little boy named Berto whose parents had died a tragic death and who she thought would be given a new start in America with a mother. Glancing towards the bed in front of her another though struck her, with a father and a new life. But, circumstances had gotten in that way and now Berto was safe with his cousin fishing somewhere. Her memory was already almost forgotten. Eva wiped away the moisture that was gaining in her eyes before it could fall and form tears. She was alright, she was fine, she had to make sure Miles was ok, that everyone would be ok. She knew that Nat, Stephen and Frank would be coming back to D.C in a couple of days and by then she and Miles would be better. Him physically and her mentally, simply by being in each other's company. Miles stirred and began to awaken. Eva was ready to tell him all about her little friend named Berto.
