A.N. So I first wrote this little PruCan one-shot like maybe over a year or so ago. All I remember is that my family had dragged me to the beach, (I'm a CA girl), on a mildly cold-ish day and I, being the little introvert that I am, sat in my beach chair the whole time writing fanfiction and drawing. I got the inspiration for this story from my own experience and from watching the other people at the beach. I hope you enjoy.
A Day at The Beach
Madeline Williams sat in her beach chair reading. She had an oversized red hooded pullover on as well as a white fisherman's cap. The temperature today was at a high of 75 degrees and if she were honest with herself, this was no time for beach faring. She had no clue why so many people were at the beach in the first place, herself included. Neither did she know how her brother Alfred had managed to get her to come along.
The air felt almost uncomfortably cool in temperature and she was sure the water was no better. The sun, the poor thing, kept being covered by the constantly moving gray clouds overhead. It would shine brightly one second only to be forced into retreat the next. She shook her head with a sigh at the thought. She heard a shout followed by laughter and looked up to see her brother tossing a football around with some other boys.
She smirked at their rough housing and silly boyish claims of out doing each other at this or that. She went to turn back to her book after readjusting her glasses, when a chorus of "hey", arose from the young men.
Maddie's gaze snapped back to their direction and she noticed that their gazes were in her's. She was still not sure that they had actually been addressing her though so she proceeded to look quickly from her right to her left.
When her gaze fell to the expanse of beach to her left, she caught sight of a young man standing not too far away from where she sat. He stood with his feet planted wide and his arms outstretched in a gesture of greeting to the boys at the water's edge. She then began to blush in self-aware embarrassment at having thought she was the center of these boys' attention and quickly got over herself in time to take in the image before her.
The newcomer was a tall young man with shockingly white hair and pale skin. His eyes shone like two red rubies, standing out amidst the bed of snow they lie in.
"Yo Gil! Are you gonna stand there all day or will you be joining us!"
The now identified, Gil, smirked wider at Alfred's taunt and called back in a striking accent.
"Ja, ja! I'm coming arschloch!"
He gave a chuckle ad strut towards Maddie. Her blush had returned when he turned his cocky smirk in her direction. His smirk slipped into a grin and he said, "Hey frau, mind if I drop mein awesome belongings here?"
Madeline looked up at him almost forgetting how to speak before nodding dumbly and then stuttering out, "Y-yeah, it's fine." She managed a small smile and then looked away her shy blush persisting to color her cheeks prettily.
With a chuckle, the boy dropped his things on the sand beside Madeline's seat and then slipped out of his flip-flops. "Danke leibling." He winked then jogged over toward where the rest of the guys had resumed playing.
Maddie chanced to look up from the book she had shyly taken refuge in. As she peered over its top, she blushed and then smiled to herself. Perhaps a day at the beach hadn't been such an awful idea after all.
A.N. Well I hope you enjoyed this little PruCan one-shot. Thank you for reading! Toodles~
