The shore rocks felt harsh against her body, but so did her hearbeat.
Not bothered with it, she laid her eyes on the reflective water ahead.
She could feel it, if she paid close attention, she would even hear it.
thump
thump
Steady. Slow. Agonizing.
Her heartbeat was a reminder that she was stucked with the burden of being alive.
It was needed. She was craving it. She could do it in an instant. With a simply snap of her fingers she would finally allow herself to rest.
There was nothing to hang on to anymore. Sure, she had them.
But she couldn't bare another day. She held on for years. Years of hiding, lying, suffering.
Her only hope was to get used to it. Used to her. Used to this. But hope wasn't working.
Focusing on the here and now, she followed her attention to the air on her lungs.
Inhale
Exhale
She felt it fill her lungs. It burnt like flames on her dried, sore throat.
This was it. It had to be. All she needed was-
"Raven?"
