Please rate and review so that I can learn and become better! Set during Chamber of Secrets. Ginny fans don't be angry - remember her altered behaviour around the diary? (I hope that wasn't a spoiler for my story). Love you all!

Slap

"Slap, slap, slap," sang my untied shoelace against the stone flag floor.

I knew it was untied. When I noticed it, I started humming along. I was in a happy mood this hour.

Only a few hours before I'd crashed through the Herbology greenhouse roof. Accidentally of course. It'd been my first flying lesson. I wasn't very good, otherwise I wouldn't have crashed. Oh well. Ginny Weasley was very good. Madam Hooch had used her as a fine example of flying and she'd blushed bright red (Ginny that is, not Madam Hooch).

But then I'd crashed. And I'd been in the Hospital Wing for the last couple of hours. It was very interesting, but Madam Pomfrey seemed to avoid me after I suggested putting a salve made of crushed dirigible plums and gernumbli saliva on my cuts.

But back to the matter at hand. Because I'd missed Transfiguration thanks to the broomstick mishap, I'd hoped I could borrow Ginny Weasley's notes. She was my friend. She sometimes said hello in the corridors!

I had asked for her near the Gryffindor Common Room but apparently she was in the library studying. Ginny was very smart, so this made sense.

I rounded the corner and found myself in the library. I scanned the crowd for the small red-head, finally seeing her sitting alone in a corner furiously scribbling on something. I walked over.

"Hello Ginny Weasley." I said, tapping her on the shoulder.

She slammed shut what I now saw to be a little black book and turned round.

"Can I help you?" she said, a funny tone in her voice, guiltiness?

"Well after my accident with the broom in Flying Practice today (and it wasn't my fault by the way, it was the Gnurks. They like wood you see, get very possessive over their 'piece') I missed Transfiguration and I was wondering if I could please borrow your notes so that I am not behind, even though I know Professor McGonagall would probably understand." I said very quickly, in one breath.

Her face hardened. Her eyes took over an icy glare.

"No. They're mine. If you weren't in class today, then that's not my problem."

I was dumbfounded. This wasn't the Ginny Weasley I knew.

"B-but, were you not l-listening -?" I started to sputter, before Ginny gave me a contemptuous look, put her book in her bag and stalked off.

I don't think she heard me…

I turned to walk slowly back to the Ravenclaw Common Room. Ginny was long gone.

"Slap, slap, slap." Oh yes, my shoelace. I bent down to tie it, to stop it laughing at me. If Ginny Weasley had actually slapped me, like the shoe suggested, I don't think I could have hurt more.
