Gasping for breath, hand clutched at his chest in pure agony, he made his cruel descent down the mountain. Suddenly dropping into a mound of snow, draco began to loose every ounce of strength he had left in his body, blood pumping out of the large gash staining the beauty of th winter snow. His collapsed lung restricted his breathing, while numerous broken ribs caused even more pain but draco wanted to carry on. His wand broken and lost in the ferocity of the battle however, draco had finally come to a fearful realisation.

It was his time to die.

Voldemort was not merciful and draco should have known from the beginning that he would never overlook what he did. Closing his eyes, heart slowing more every second, Draco could see in his mind the image of a perfect woman laughing with more innocence then that of a newborn baby. He could never have fulfilled his orders. That mudblood meant more to him then life itself and dying, knowing she was safe, was a gift draco could never have wished more for.

Just the mere thought of her eased his pain and a smile crept across his blooded face. His body was going slowly limp while his mind was turning blank, deaths presence beginning to become his friend. Then in the distance a silouhette began to rise in the distance becoming evermore closer, a beautiful face ruined with the sight of tears running down her cheek.

It was hermione.

She sat down beside Draco cradling him in her arms, her tears dropping onto his skin alerting him of her presence.

"Please Draco c'mon you can't die, you can't leave me!" shouted Hermione drawing her wand out of her pocket, hands shaking.

"Hermione...Don't..." Draco said raising his hand to her face gazing into her eyes. Those eyes made him feel stable and he could look at them for hours. But he did not have hours. Hermione froze, tears streaming down her face quicker a look of disbelief crossing her face.

"Its...my...time..." Draco whispered is voice becoming quieter, his life slipping away.

"No its not! I love you! I could never live without you!" screamed hermione drawing him closer, kissing him gently on the forehead her heart beating ferociouslyagainst his slowing heart.

"I ...only...ever...wanted...you...safe" The final words escaped his lips as his eyes glazed over, his face content as it left the world. Hermione knelt down in the snow refusing to let go of what was once hers.
