Prompt 3- School

Red was up all night because he could hardly wait for tomorrow, Football sign-ups were available and he wanted to join with everyone else, everyone else being his brothers, Green, Blue, and Shadow. Being up all night took a toll on the small boy, he could hardly wake up to make breakfast for everyone, which made them all mad.

"Red! Wake up! You're gonna make us late!" Green shouted in Red's ear to wake him up, Red nearly jumped out of his bed.

"Ahh! What? Oh...I'm sorry Green, I thought I was up." Green looked at him oddly, then turned and walked out of his room.

Red walked excitedly behind his brothers, just thinking about playing Football with them made him all the more happy. Zelda came by and greeted them, "Hello you five."

"Hi Zelda!" Red shouted. the rest just said their lazy hi and walked in the building. Zelda frowned at them then turned and smiled at Red.

"Nice to see you so happy this morning."

Red eagerly nodded, "I can't wait until Football sign-ups!"

"Oh! Good luck then Red"

The bell rung and they both sprinted inside to their class.

Red was bored and tired, this day was taking soooo long. Red almost dozed off until he heard, "Anyone who wants to sign up for JV Football, please come to the cafeteria. Anyone who wants to sign up for JV Football, please come to the cafeteria. Thank you." Red jumped out of his seat and ran down the hallway, knocking into his brothers.

Blue turned around and raised an eyebrow, "Red...where are you going?"

"To sign up with you guys!"

Blue turned to Green, and Shadow, then back at Red. "You? Sign up? For FOOTBALL?"

"Uh...yeah."

Shadow walked in front of Red, "Sorry Red but, you're just a kid, you wouldn't even make the team, you should just sign up for chess like Vio."

Red was shocked and he whimpered and sniffled, then he ran away. The rest just shrugged and walked towards the cafeteria.

Outside, Red was sitting on a bench, crying. With class ending, Zelda walked out and spotted Red, she sat down next to him and put a hand on his shoulder. "Red, what's wrong? Weren't you singing up for Football?"

Red slowly looked at Zelda, "They said I was just a kid..."

"Huh...?"

"I'm not a kid! I don't know why they can't see that!"

Zelda looked irritated thinking about Green, Blue, and Shadow. "Well, technically, you're all high-school aged..."

"So then why?" Red asked.

Zelda chose her words carefully, trying not to upset him more. "Maybe it's because you're short..and have child-like qualities."

"You think I act like a kid?"

Zelda shot up her hands and shook her head, "No! I said qualities, you have a baby face," she took hold of his hands, "and baby soft skin." She paused, waiting to see if Red would respond, then continued on. "I think you are a grown teenager with a big heart."

Red smiled at Zelda, "Thank you!"

"How about you join the Cooking Club with me instead?"

Red nodded and hugged her.
