Oneshot Number One.
It was a crisp November night in London, a particularly quiet one too. All the lights in 221b Baker Street were off, and the two inhabitants were fast asleep. Well, Sherlock was. John however, tossed and turned as nightmares flooded his dreams.
The gunfire and pain filled screams rang loudly in his ears. Eventually, he awoke, twisted in his sheets. His breathing was jagged and rapid as the nightmare subsided. As his eyes adjusted to the darkness, he sat up, running his hands through his spruce brown hair.
As a former soilder, John had had many nightmares since his return from Afghanistan. But tonight's was different. In his nightmare, Sherlock was the one getting shot. And when he came into triage with a gaping bullet wound, there was nothing John could do for him. It tore John apart to be forced to stand and watch Sherlock die in front of him. He almost didn't want to admit it, but Sherlock meant a lot to him. More than Sherlock realized.
Perhaps it was the fact that he wasn't fully awake, maybe it was something else, but the doctor decided to relocate for the night. He climbed out of his bed and navigated through the dark to the room down the hall. He pushed the door open to see the outline of the detective lying on the bed. He entered the room, gently closing the door behind him. For a moment, he hovered over the bed, questioning what he was about to do.
Eventually, he pushed the houghts away and climbed into the bed. He yawned as he slid under the covers, his back facing the detective's. Shortly after setting in, he drifted off to sleep.
The next morning, as the soft sunlight filtered through the curtains, John started to wake. At first when he awoke, he didn't notice anything different from when he crept in that night. But then he felt Sherlock's arm draped around his waist, and their legs entangled. Sherlock's voice was low and quiet,
"Are you sure you're not gay?"
I know that wasn't that great but it's my first Johnlock story so bare with me. Hopefully I'll be adding more to this series...
