Seijou High School was full on the day when the juniors were preparing for
entrance exams. Many students ended up carrying enough books to give
themselves back problems for the rest of their lives, while some didn't
bother studying at all, either because of a lack of interest, or an
abundance of intelligence. A young girl ran up and tackled a dark-haired
boy happily, causing him to lose the armload of books he had somehow
managed to carry. Groaning, he pried the giggling girl's arms from around
his neck while his best friend smiled diplomatically
"Nakuru, get off me!" Touya Kinomoto struggled to get the girl off his back, but to no avail.
"Didn't you miss me, To-ya?"
"No." He finally managed to get free, grumbling, picking some of his books up. Nakuru gave him her most winning smile, her eyes turning colder as she looked at the boy's friend, who caught her glance and stared back naively. "Come on, Yuki." Touya sighed. "Sakura's probably home already."
"Hai." Yukito smiled brightly and kept walking, turning a glance to Touya that seemed like much more than a look between friends. Nakuru noticed more than Touya did as she watched them leave, her hands on her hips. She couldn't help but laugh, walking the other way.
"How cute.." She muttered sarcastically. "They're in love.."
"What is the main topic of 'Romeo and Juliet'?" Touya read aloud in a monotone, sighing as his drowsy eyes looked from the clock to Yukito, who was lying on his back on the bed.
"Forbidden love?" Yukito suggested, propping himself up on one elbow. For a moment, Touya had a panicked thought that Yukito had found out, but the innocent smile on his friend's face told him otherwise.
"Yeah, I know about that." Touya muttered.
"Why? Are you in love with someone you shouldn't be?" Yukito blinked his big hazel eyes. Touya hesitated, hearing Kaho's voice in his head. "Have you told Yukito what you really want?" Trembling, he thought 'it's time..' silently, cupping Yukito's cheek in his hand before kissing him once on the lips, Yukito's body went still, and he lay there, his lips looking slightly parted, his eyes closed. He opened his eyes and leaned his forehead against Touya's smiling.
"I'm sorry.. I just.. I.. thought you should know how I feel.." Touya whispered.
"I'm glad you feel the same way." Yukito murmured softly while Touya could only look at Yukito's smile, finally seeing the love hidden beneath it. He nearly cried, kissing the boy again with a newly awakened passion that neither knew existed. Yukito pulled away gently and Touya blinked as Yuki opened the door to reveal a confused Sakura, holding a food tray, both hands full.
"Hoee!" She yelped. "How do you keep doing that?"
Yukito smiled. "Just a feeling.. Thank you, Sakura. We could use a study break." He took the tray and set it down, bowing to Sakura before shutting the door.
"Yuki.. how long have you felt this way about me?" He watched the boy consume two sandwiches and waited for him to finish.
"Years." He smiled, laying back on the bed. The food gone, Touya lay on his side, pulling Yukito against him. Yukito rested his head against Touya's collarbone and as their arms twined, their hearts beat in time, and sleep overcame them.. They both felt truly happy and truly content for the first time.
