This poem was written for the Village Square Holiday Surprise Prompt. My assigned topic was snowed in. This is my first poem fic, and the first poem I've written in over 5 years. The poem is supposed to be in sets of four lines, but I can't seem to put the extra line spaces in the edit... Oh well! Thanks for reading and happy holidays!
Lonely me visited Johnny the farmer,
Sis had been working extra hours leaving me alone,
I watched him water the seeds he had just sown,
It was odd, but he was wearing knight's armor.
I explained what was bothering this young girl,
He gave me a mushroom pie and some advice,
He said to throw it whole, not slice by slice,
I headed to the pond to give it a whirl.
I tossed the pie into the pond and made my request,
"I want to spend more time with Lillie,"
Afterwards, I started feeling a bit silly,
But then I heard a voice saying she'd do her best.
It snowed so much the next day,
The doors were blocked with layers of snow,
To work, Lillie couldn't go,
So, we finally had a chance to hang out and play!
We dressed up our dolls in pretty clothes,
My favorite doll rocked long silver boots,
The dolls went to school and had fashion shoots,
They traveled all over to wherever I chose.
Later, I gave my sister a lesson on boys,
While I styled her straight brown hair,
She tried to pretend she didn't care,
But I knew she liked a certain chef more than her toys.
We baked cookies for the guests of the inn,
Chocolate chip, sugar and peanut butter too,
Most were eaten by guest old and new,
The rest were kept in my secret cookie tin.
The day ended when Daddy read us a story,
About a young witch's trial to earn her title,
Crafting the perfect potion was vital,
The witch succeeded and earned great glory!
My day's final thoughts were about the weather,
I thanked the goddess for the weather event,
No one else knew how much this day meant,
Today was the best snowed in day ever!
