Now You're Gone

"You know that you're in love when the hardest thing is saying goodbye"

Lucas slowly reached out, his rough hand caressing her smooth face. He waited until her eyelids fluttered open.

"Hey," She whispered. She may not be a morning person, but when he was the first thing she saw everyday, it was hard to complain.

The sleepy rasp her voice took on in the mornings made it all the more enjoyable. Times like these, only one thought crossed his mind.

"I love you, you know that?" He whispered back.

The slow smile that spread across her face told him that, yes, she knew, but loved hearing him say it anyway.

She leaned her head toward his and thanked him with a sweet kiss. One he knew meant that it was time to get up. The moment was over. Time to face the day.

"Peyt?" He left the question unspoken, but she knew what he meant. She didn't want it to end either, but they had to earn a living somehow. And food was kind of important too.

"I would stay here forever if I could, Luke," She said. Letting him know that she felt the same way.

He watched her get up to shower. The way she moved made him proud to call her his wife, but it was the way that she was that made him just proud to know her.

So when she said goodbye to him every morning and got out of their shared bed, he knew that it was reasonable for him to feel cold and empty again.

Because he knew she would return and fill his heart again.

... I'm not sure what I wanted to do with this, but I wanted to write something. I might write more oneshots like this and make it like multiple oneshots.... we'll see.

Don't own it.
