"The Secret I"
After summer, just before Senior Year…Liz, Maria, Alex, Isabel, Michael, and Max are all back in Roswell. Liz had spent the summer in Florida with her Aunt Helen, Maria spent her summer at her Uncle Vernon's ranch in Mississippi. As for Alex, Max, Isabel, Michael, and Tess, they all spent the summer together in Roswell. Although they kept pretty busy. Alex spent most of the summer playing tour guide to his cousin Mary who came to visit Roswell for half of the summer, Max and Isabel went on frequent family trips with their parents, and Michael kept his steady job at the Crashdown. And Tess just went around Roswell and tried to make a couple of new friends. And although Maria and Michael, and Isabel and Alex had all split before the summer, Michael and Isabel knew that Maria and Alex weren't completely over them yet. Not after all they've been through. Therefore, they had both agreed not to tell anyone about there little secret. No one would know. Not Maria, Alex, Liz, or even Max. Well, they wouldn't tell Max and Tess about this, at least for now.
On the last weekend before classes started again, they all partied till' the crack of dawn on Friday. And on Saturday, Michael slept over Max's house, and he, Max, and Isabel all slept in Max's bedroom. They watched a couple of movies, pigged out on junk food, and talked for hours. 30 minutes after Max fell asleep, Isabel walked over to Michael's sleeping bag, and sat beside him where he was reading a magazine. "Hey. You know, Max is asleep." "Really?", Michael asked. "Yeah. For about half an hour now.", Isabel replied. "Oh. You sleepy yet?", Michael asked her, putting down the magazine he was reading. "No. You?", Isabel asked. "Um…not really.", Michael answered. "So, I was just thinking. Senior year and all…new people, new experiences, you know?", Isabel said. "Yeah, scares you and excites you at the same time, doesn't it?" "Yeah. I just realized it does!", Isabel said laughing. They talked on for about an hour about school, friends, parties, the future. "So what are we supposed to do if we don't get home before Senior year ends? I was just really wondering if I should just apply for local collages, you know, in Roswell.", Isabel wondered out loud. "I don't know about that right now. I guess we do whatever Max says. He is, after all, our true-blue leader!", Michael joked. "Yeah. I miss these times, you know. Our nights when we would just sit and talk for hours, let the time pass by!", Isabel said smiling at Michael. "Yeah,", Michael said smiling back, "I really enjoy your company a lot!" "Oh really? More than you enjoy Maria's?", Isabel asked. "Yeah. Yeah, 'cuz I guess you can really relate to me and really know and understand my feelings and what I'm going through right now. Because you might be going through the same thing, too. I mean, Maria broke down the wall I hid behind. And she'll always be special. But, you're really special person to me too. Or should I say Alien?", Michael joked. "How 'bout me, huh? You love Alex more?", asked Michael. "Yes, basically the same thing you said. But Alex only broke down half of the wall, you broke the other half. And although he's probably the most special human being to me, aside from my "parents", I know it can never work out.", Isabel answered looking down. "I know exactly what you mean, Iz, that's what I told Maria. It can never be. No matter how much I love her, we're too different considering I'm an alien, and she's a human being.", Michael agreed., "Told you we thought alike." "Yeah.", Isabel said laughing. "Michael…", she said again. "Michael…do you remember…our secret?", Isabel asked. "Of course. How could I forget?", Michael whispered as happy, sad, joyful, and tearful moments came to life in his memory.
