Love takes time. It needs a history of giving and receiving, laughing
and crying...
Love never promises instant gratification, only ultimate fulfillment.
Love means believing in someone, in something.

Tonks and I weaved our way between the clusters of people, spells were flying all over the grounds and the once lush green country side was littered with rotting corpses. I tried not to look, not to dwell and the lost soldiers, the ones who had died trying to make the world a better place and as cliché as that sounds, it was true.

"Stupefy!" I heard Tonks' high pitch voice scream out and whipped my head to the left just in time to see the dark silhouette of a Death Eater fall to the ground motionless. Dust rained down upon us as more explosions were heard in the distance. Spells danced before our very eyes, varying in colours and it reminded me of the times back when I was a Marauder when my friends and I would set of Fireworks in class and pull idiotic pranks. I missed the days when things were so simple, when my friends were still alive…

My vision zeroed in on Dolohov. His wand moved in fast slashing movements, deflecting all spells sent his way and sending back even more powerful ones. This all seemed like a game to him and as though he was finally getting tired of this he shot his most powerful curse yet. Purple flames burst out of the tip of his wand intent on destroying anything that came into contact with them.

BAM

I heard screams fill the air and I was flying. My body seemed to be being tossed through the night's sky like I was a simple worthless rag doll. Tonks had had her back to the fiery explosion, so for the few fleeting moments that I saw her, she was illuminated, time had frozen, it seemed like in those few fragments of a moment she was still, her bright blue eyes staring like she hadn't fully processed what was happening. Her bubblegum pink hair nestled around her head in a halo. Her face had seemed perfect. But it couldn't last as we were thrown down towards the earth; I felt my hand reaching out for hers, for the love of my life's hand.

A few minutes ago we had seen Fred's body, alone, stone cold, but that wasn't what made the sight so unusual. It was the fact that he was alone. Although he still had Percy and Ron clawing at his body, tear tracks streaming down their faces there was no matching identical body laying down next to his is in submission… No, George wasn't there joining Fred for the next great adventure. So that's what made it so tragic.

But at least I knew I wasn't alone, Tonks was here and that meant everything would be alright. Her pale, grimy face snapped towards mine and we both knew that we only had a split second left in our lives "I love you…" She whispered affection mixed with fear lacing her words.

I smiled knowing that Tonks would be with me, that I would finally be rejoiced with my brothers, James and Sirius. I knew Harry would win this fight and I knew he would take care of Ted. "I love you too" I whispered, my voice getting carried away becoming just a mere echo in the wind; and with that my body collided with the hard blood stained ground becoming just another hero who had fallen in the war.
