One Shot. Spock has to write an uncomfortable letter to his father. Rated K. I own only the words.
Father,
It was agreeable to see you after the court martial. Most of my time since was occupied by the shakedown of my new vessel. I have recently acquired additional anecdotes on the illogical behavior of humans.
However, that is not my purpose in sending this letter.
As a Federation ambassador, you are undoubtedly aware of the Nimbus III outpost. The Enterprise was recently ordered to negotiate a hostage situation on the planet. This incident was broadcast on the Federation News Service. What they did not broadcast was the name of the chief terrorist and mastermind of the entire incident.
It was Sybok, father.
From what I have surmised, after his exile from Vulcan, my half-brother wandered the galaxy in search of Sha Ka Ree. The Nimbus III incident was fabricated for the sole purpose of getting aboard a Federation Starship. Once aboard the Enterprise, Sybok was able to instigate a coup.
Once Sybok had control of the Enterprise, he took us to the great barrier at the center of the galaxy, where he believed Sha Ka Ree would be found. Inside the barrier, we discovered a Minshara Class planet. Sybok, Captain Kirk, Doctor McCoy and I traveled to this planet in a shuttle-craft.
On the surface of this planet, we met a powerful being claiming to be the creator of the universe. We soon discovered a logical contradiction in the beings' behavior. The being then started attacking our landing party. Sybok distracted the being while Captain Kirk ordered the Enterprise to destroy the false creator.
Sybok was killed in the attack. His death allowed the Enterprise to escape the wrath of the energy being saving us all, including the lives of three important ambassadors.
I have sent a copy of my official report to the Vulcan Science Academy. Since Sybok orchestrated an exploration into a previously unexplored sector of the galaxy, it is my hope that they will review the situation and posthumously reinstate Sybok's admission.
My condolences on your loss, father.
Live long and prosper.
Spock
