A/N: Yes, I know I might have ruined it for some people, and I know some other people won't get it unless they go and look for the manga chapter 377. So… um… tough, ok?
Stories had been passed down through the years of the sacrifices that were made to become kunoichi. While some women sacrificed their ideals, still more sacrificed their dreams, even their lives. It was not for any one to say which sacrifices hurt more, or cost more…
Hyuuga Hinata sacrificed her sense of self.
From an early age, she wasn't certain she was capable of becoming a shinobi, but her doubts didn't stop her from trying. In the beginning, she tried changing herself to please her father and appease her cousin.
Only after Naruto's influences on herself and Neji became apparent, did Hinata understand that in trying to gain her father's love, she had lost what made her so unique.
Haruno Sakura sacrificed her self worth.
Pinned by Kin, an opponent far stronger than Sakura could cope with, she came to the abrupt conclusion that her own deluded belief in her own skills had nearly cost her the lives of her team mates.
When she cut off her hair, she didn't only free herself physically, but also mentally. Sakura no longer believed that she was better, or worse than her fellow genin, nor did she believe that her life was worth saving – at least, not until she became strong enough to protect the ones she loved.
Tsunade sacrificed her own family.
Nawaki died for a necklace, Dan, for the village. When Tsunade turned her back on the village, she fully believed that she would never set foot in Konoha's borders again. Naruto's passionate defense of not just his village, his dreams, but also of the Third and Fourth, finally allowed her to move past her terrible grief. Rather than being forced, Tsunade chose to give herself to her village, to protect and defend its ideals.
It was better to believe she had come home instead of believing that she had surrendered to the inevitable.
Uzumaki Kushina sacrificed her own son.
Contrary to what some believed, Kushina knew full well what Minato's jutsu was capable of, just as she knew that the sacrifice would destroy not one life, but two.
Nevertheless, she gave Naruto to Konoha, to become a container for the nine tails because a shinobi's duty to her village came first.
