Summary: The ring sat forlornly in the display case until one day, a man entered the shop.
A/N: I'm sorry, I have one or two dramione drabbles on hold (crazy, a small drabble on hold, but it's true), so enjoy this LupinXTonks until I get a bit more inspiration. Thanks! :-)
The ring sat forlornly in the display case. He knew he was small and simple; just a plain gold band with one small, round diamond and two smaller accent diamonds. He wasn't flawless. He knew he wasn't big and flashy with perfect stones like the other rings in the case. But he did his best to shine as bright as the others and tried to stay upbeat when he was always passed over. The ring knew that one day someone would notice him. And when that day came, he'd belong to someone who would cherish him.
One wet, spring day, a man entered the shop. He looked tired and worn out, with a shabby coat, grey peppered throughout his limp brown hair, and a scarred face that looked like the world had taken its toll on him. But the genuine smile that graced his features and lit up his eyes revealed his warm nature and immediately made one forget his run-down appearance.
The ring did his best to stand out; he tried to appear bigger; he tried to glint and sparkle like the others in the case. It must have worked too, for the man pointed to him when the clerk asked if he'd like to see anything. The man held the ring gingerly with his fingertips; the ring felt so fragile and insignificant compared to the one who held him. But the man smiled and said, "It's perfect." The ring shined with happiness while he was cleaned one final time before being placed in a red velvet box all his own.

"Darling! It's beautiful!" Tonks exclaimed as her husband placed the ring on her finger. "But why-"
"You gave me a son, love," Remus replied. He smiled as he looked at the chubby newborn babe in his wife's arms, before placing a soft kiss on the boy's forehead. "I felt I should give you something in return."
