Moving up the ranks is not as wonderful as it sounds. In fact, it is a curse in disguise – contrary to what others might think.
Kurosaki Ichigo was cursing his promotion to being the captain of the 5th squad.
"Oh, come on," cheered Rukia, "it's not that bad is it?"
"Yes it is," he growled back. He was in a foul mood. He never expected his promotion to captaincy would mean that he has to do endless supply of paperwork. Now he knew why his sister's boyfriend constantly wears a frown on his face…
He cringed thinking of his sister and her boyfriend.
"Thinking of Hitsugaya-taicho again?" Rukia teased.
"Grr…I can't believe he beat me! How dare he date my sister!"
"Deal with it, he beat you fair and square."
"Ugh! I'm going to get permanent white hair soon…" huffed an annoyed Ichigo.
"It couldn't be that bad, could it?"
"Yes," he growled back, "it is very bad! If he dare harm or hurt Karin in any way…"
She could hear the 'or else' hanging. Rukia sighed. It was hard to convince him that the 'white haired bastard' and his sister were made for each other…and that Hitsugaya-taicho would not let harm come to his sister.
Sometimes, I wonder why I would date such a moron…
"Shouldn't you start doing the paperwork?"
"Ugh…Just looking at it un-motivates me…"
"Stop whining, Ichigo!"
"What? I'm not whining!" protested the strawberry.
"Then get to work!"
"But I—"
Rukia couldn't resist punching him in the face. His whining was grating on her nerves. Its just paperwork, for God's sake!
"Ooh~ Couple's squabble, I see!"
"Karin! Would you not pop out like that?!" Ichigo grumbled. He hated not being in the know.
"What's eating you anyway? You sounded, and looked, just like Toshiro!"
Karin received a growl. Both girls sighed – there's no helping some people…
"It seems now's not a good time to visit…so, see you then!" chirped Karin, shunpo-ing back to her squad.
"You know, there's no one else here but the two of us…"
"Don't even think about it, Ichigo! There's paper muugfh—" His lips crashed into hers.
"Once in a while doesn't hurt I suppose…" relented Rukia, once she has regained her breath. And so, Ichigo escaped into heaven for the time being.
Perhaps moving up the ranks isn't so bad after all…
"Karin!" Hitsugaya yelled. He was annoyed, as usual.
"Uh, hey!"
"Get over here and finish up your share of paperwork!"
"Um…sorry, I'm busy…" Karin tried making a dash for it – unsuccessfully.
"Ugh…you can't do this to me…why does Matsumoto get to be excused from paperwork…?!" protested Karin. "Promotion and paperwork comes hand in hand…evil…unfair…" The damn promotion…
Hitsugaya smirked, but kissed her on the lips anyway. She's too cute not to be kissed when she's annoyed…
Oh yes, promotion might not be so bad after all…
Matsumoto sniggered.
Oh, the noises she can hear outside the office. No doubt Ichigo and Rukia are…she snickered thinking about it.
Doubtful that he knew what Karin and taicho are doing in their office!
She sighed contentedly. Young love. Not to mention that there was no office for her to use or do work…I'm going drinking with the others!
