He had only been at the school for a week now. First day he came the Headmaster had invited him into his office for a special welcome from the American exchange student.

A week earlier

An elderly man peered over his desk through half-moon glasses at the fifteen year old American boy standing in front of it happily. He smiled warmly and said, "Welcome," he paused to look at a roll of parchment on his desk, "Jacob we are glad to have you here at our school. How is everything in the states by the way?"

Jacob smiled, "Everything is well for the most part with the exception we just got a new Head of Mysticism there and it's caused a bit of a disturbance among many of the schools because he is trying to ban some important things that they teach."

The man said, "Well I'm Professor Dumbledore the headmaster here at Hogwarts. Please wait here while I send for an escort." He walked off through a door behind his desk

Jacob looked around the man's office and noted a few very interesting objects such as the sorting hat that stood behind his desk and the phoenix which he couldn't help but pet. Before he could see anything else Dumbledore reappeared and said, "Do you have any questions before you begin?"

Jacob answered formally, "Yeah what is up with these house situations? The hat mentioned four of them he said I would be great in Ravenclaw but instead put me in Gryffindor because he saw something else inside me."

Dumbledore smiled and said, "I think Mr. Weasley or Mrs. Granger will explain that to you when you ask them. Your stuff has already been brought to your room and you can speak with Madam Pomfrey about any medical care you could need while here."

Jacob smiled, trying to hide the frustration welling up within him, and said, "I'll keep that in mind."

Dumbledore added politely, "Our potions masters is Professor Snape if you need anything dealing with potions." He looked over his glasses waiting for a response from the blonde teen.

Jacobs sapphire blue eyes showed a hint of agitation as he said, "That won't be necessary headmaster." He heard the doors open behind him open and he said, "Guess if you'll excuse me I will take my leave now."

He turned around and saw a red hair freckled-faced boy standing behind him. This boy put out a hand and said, "Hello I'm Ron Weasley and I was called to show you around the castle." He shot a look of glee at Dumbledore.

Jacob took his hand and said, "It is a pleasure to meet you, I am Jacob Wolf."

Ron smiled and motioned for Jacob to follow him. He led Jacob through the corridors of the castle explaining that there are many secret passageways that could make coming and going really quick. He then showed him where most of his classes would be held with the exception of potions which would be first thing the next day.

Half way through the tour Ron asked, "Do they play Quidditch in the states?"

Jacob shook his head and said, "No but something similar to it. I kinda miss the states."

Ron looked at him sympathetically, "How come you left?"

Jacob turned away and said somberly, "It is a story that I don't wanna tell to a stranger."
