"We're coming to you live with breaking news! Man eats his lover at midnight! This is Jay Walker reporting from the Sensei Wu Dormitory! Let's go the witnesses now. Kai Smith, what do you have to say on this matter? You've know the victim and lover for a long time, anything else of importance we may need to know?"
"I honestly don't know what to say, it was so tragic. I-I think I need a moment." Kai Smith said with a "sob".
"Perfectly understandable, Lloyd Montgomery Garmadon, what do you have to say?" Jay asked.
"This is a tragic moment that none of us expected, we were aware that there was a problem but we didn't know it was this bad…. it was unexpected…." Lloyd said as he shook his head in a solemn manner.
"Most of the serious problems with our friends are unexpected. Zane Julien, your words?"
"I only wish my senses had been much more sharp. More alert…. maybe then this could have all been averted." As Zane spoke his somber words Jay nodded.
"I believe we should go to the scene of the crime…" All of the young men agreed and walked towards the room of the incident. The night's darkness made the walk much more gloomy than it had to be. It wasn't long until they reached the room…
The kitchen.
Usually the kitchen was the room where people would gather and get together for enjoyment but not this time. A single light was shining from the refrigerator on a young man with black hair. He had been humming innocently and turned around to the incomers. The evidence was all around his mouth and he was bringing in another piece of it to eat. His humming seized and looked at the men in surprise, when he noticed the camera, he scowled at them.
"You guys are real assholes."
The quiet tension that had been settled around them lifted up as the young men burst into laughter. "It's your fault for always eating the cakes before anyone gets a chance to have a taste! Now your midnight crimes are taped for my film class. Cheer up Cole, you're going to be a star! Think about it, headlines will all scream 'Cole Brookstone: The Tragedy' and everyone will be lining up to see you." Jay laughed as he thought of the scenario. Cole on the other had rolled his eyes and ate the last of the cake he had been filmed eating.
"I don't care about your silly films but was it really necessary to film me without my permission? Especially at this hour?"
"The time doesn't stop you from eating." Kai chipped in as he got himself a snack as well.
"Its called a midnight snack for a reason." Despite this remark, everyone laughed. They were all happy and why shouldn't they be? They had their whole lives ahead of them, good health, and they had each other. It was days like this when it seemed like they could do anything in the world and that moments like these were meant to last forever.
