Prologue – 5 years ago

"Okay Sis, I'm off to the store now!"

"OK, but don't forget to pick up my surprise for mother's birthday today."

"I am very hurt. Do you think that I would forget something as important as that?"

"Yes Hiroki, I really do."

"Okay, one more smart alec comment like that and I may have to tickle you."

"Oh come on, that hasn't worked since I was four or five."

"Oh well, it was worth a shot. But whatever, I better leave now before the shop closes. See you later!"

"Bye then."

Hiroki ran out the door, through the gates, and onto the street.

His sister watched him through the window as he made his way up the side of the road until he was finally out of sight.

She was about to go back to making dinner when she saw something peculiar.

A jet black car zoomed past the window at a speed that must have been going over the limit.

She watched the car as it sped out of view. Suddenly, she heard the screeching of brakes followed by a dull thud.

She knew this could not be good.

Hiroki's sister ran out of the house and through the gates to see a body crumpled in the street.

She ran over and cried out when she saw that it was her brother.

She checked his pulse.

He was still alive.

Barely.

She started to lift her brother in her arms so she could try to bring him back to the house.

She was hysterical; crying, shaking, panicking.

No one was home besides her and she was scared, she was only twelve.

She was still shaking and crying as she started to drag her brother back into the house.

But, before she went through the door, she glanced over to where the road came to a bend and almost dropped her brother in surprise.

The black car was just sitting there watching her struggle to bring her brother into the house.

Her eyes widened in fear in shock as she recognized the driver's face.

The man guilty of this hit and run incident, the man who did this to her brother – was her own father
