Chapter-1 Aftermath of Battle
Konoha's battlegrounds
Hiruzen Sarutobi, Sandaime Hokage of Konoha was looking at the child in his hands with sad smile."I hope you will understand why he had to do this when you are grown Mito-chan. If you will forgive him than his soul will rest in peace." He then body - flickered to the Konoha hospital.
Konoha Hospital
Kushina Uzumaki was in the maternal wards with her son peacefully sleeping in her lap. She was fondly caressing his hair thinking about the recent events. Minato Namikaze, her husband and the Yondaime Hokage had gone to battle the great Kyuubi no Youko. He had explained to her that it is not possible to kill a bijuu so he had to seal it. But to seal something in the magnitude of kyuubi he had to use a human container. As adult's chakra coils are already developed it would not accommodate the extra chakra so he would use a baby child whose chakra coils are not developed yet.
At the same time she had given birth to twins, a girl and boy. They have named them Mito after the Shodai Hokage's wife and Kushina's ancestor and Naruto after the name of main hero of the book written by Jiraiya, one of the Densetsu no Sannins . Minato had chosen Mito for the ritual, as she was 1 minute older than Naruto and as all the previous host of Kyuubi the baby would be a girl as they have better emotional control.
Kushina was broken out of her thought when Hiruzen opened the door walked into her room.
"So he is gone now."
"Yes," Hiruzen said with sigh as hands over Mito to Kushina. He began to somewhat worry when he sees the conflicting emotions in her face.
"You can share anything with me Kushina-chan. Is there anything I can do I will do it".
"There is nothing you have to do for, now everything will be done in the ways of Akai Chisio no Habanero Kushina".
Hiruzen was very pleased when he heard this. 'Kushina-chan this is what Minato-kun admired most about you. Even in the greatest of difficulties you will bounce back,' he thought. He then saw a Chunin coming there.
The bowed down to him and said,"Sandaime-sama the Council has called upon a meeting. They are in the need of you and your students".
The Council
When he entered the room it was in uproar but when they saw they immediately began to get quite. When everyone was silent he asked," Why have you called me?"
The village elders Homura and Koharu answered," because we need a new leader for us. We are now significantly low on shinobi forces after the kyuubi attack. But the greatest blow to us was the Yondaime's sacrifice. Other villages must not know of this especially Iwagakure no Sato. So we need a powerful new Hokage who can lead us through this difficult situation".
"So who are the candidates", enquired Hiruzen.
"They are you, Jiraiya, Tsunade, Fugaku, Hiashi and..
..me" said Danzo. At this Hiruzen narrowed his eyes on him.
Koharu continued, "so who will be the hokage."
Sarutobi thought and for some time and said, "the one that is most likely to be a Hokage is Jiraiya so he must become the Hokage."
"Sorry to disappoint you old monkey but I am too free spirited to be the Hokage and sit behind and old wooden table beside I have research to do," Jiraiya said from the window.
Hiruzen left eye was twitching dangerously and the rest of council sweat dropped at this.
"How many times I have said not to call me that you fool."
"Well many times but that is not the topic of this council. So old farts of council if you want a new strong Hokage than I have one person in my mind."
Homura asked,"And who is that?"
Jiraiya with glint in eyes said," Akai Chisio no Habanero Kushina".
