Glee. – New York Scholarship.

Chapter 1.

It's the end of the school year. The students of William McKinley High Schoolwere writing final exams and making plans for summer. They were in the middle of "poetry movement" week in glee club, when Will Schuester came in with a stack of envelopes.

"Mister Shoe." Rachel started but he stopped her and told everyone to settle down.

"I know you want to say something about Nationals and about how this was a team effort, but I got news and it has a great deal to do with you guys winning in New York this year."

The room went quiet. Mister Schuester waved the stack of envelopes and handed them out.

"Did we win money?" Puck asked as he started opening his envelope.

"Don't open them, guys. I want to tell you something first."

"We did?" Brittany grinned.

"No. But wait for me to explain." After handing each a letter, Mr. Schuester held up his own envelope and held it open to read.

"Sure, you can open yours but we can't?" Puck complained.

"Dear New Directions of McKinley High." Mr. Schuester started reading his letter aloud. "We are pleased to congratulate each and everyone one of you for winning. You all have a potential to succeed. On behalf of the John-Alexander Hewitt fund, we would like to invite the entire group to join us in New York for our Summer Arts Scholarship Program."

The room was still quiet. No one really understood.

"What does that mean?" Fin asked. Kurt suddenly gasped and everyone looked at him. He had opened his letter and finished reading it.

"We all get to study in NY for the summer."

"Not all of us can afford to do that." Sam said. "Most of us can't"

"It's a scholarship program. It's fully paid for, guys." Mr. Schuester inserted.

"What?" Everyone tore open their letters and quickly read through.

"I know John-Alexander. I even called him to make sure if this is real. He actually asked me to go there too and be the show choir teacher for the summer. But each and every one of you is invited to go to New York, live in their dorms and partake in the entire summer program for free."

"All of us?"

"What's the catch?"

"Yes. Everyone is invited but not everyone needs to go. You need to get there yourself, and provide your own spending money. But other than that, your housing will be paid for, including three meals a day, you'll be busy most of the day with an assortment of classes that are mandatory to attend or you'll be replaced, and you'll have weekends off."

"Sounds like a trap." Fin mumbled.

"John-Alexander is an amazing Broadway star. I heard that he injured himself earlier this year, and retired from performing." Rachel said.

"Who's paying for all this?" Santana asked.

"John-Alexander comes from a long line of American heritage. He's really rich and has been sponsoring things like this for years. This is just the first big scale scholarship he's done. But I have the whole booklet of the program that you guys can look at, and they're sending them to anyone who accepts. It's a great opportunity!"

"He's paying because we won Nationals?" Joseph stated.

"I've heard of him too." Brittany inserted. "Isn't he the guy who, like, fought against the elephants with only his horse? Married a princess and made out with a guy in front of everyone?"

Everyone stared at her.

"The top three groups from Nationals were invited. Not everyone will be going because some people have plans already or can't afford traveling in between, but the scholarship has been budgeted for a hundred kids." Mr. Schuester stated.

"Holy fat on burnt toast!" Santana exclaimed.

"Anyone interested?" Mr. Schuester asked now that the enthusiasm has picked up.

A few hands rose excitedly.
