"Listen, John. I'm sorry about what happened earlier with the defibrillator paddles. I'll be more careful next time." Said Deb.
Carter chuckled. "Hey, don't worry about it Deb. You're only a med student; it happens. Wouldn't have happened to me though" he added and then smiled.
Deb smiled "Thanks for being so nice to me. I wouldn't blame you if you were angry".
He grinned, "Come over here" he said, and pulled her into a hug.
They broke apart as Dr Mark Greene walked through the door.
"Ah, Carter. Back in the land of the living I see"
"Yeah" Carter chuckled. "I guess I've made a name for myself now."
"Meaning?"
"I'm the clumsy oaf who gets in the way of defibrillator paddle, right?"
Mark grinned. "Don't worry about it, Carter. Every new med student here has to go through some sort of initiation. I guess that was yours."
"What about the cast?"
"Well, that was just a funny prank"
"Cast?" asked Deb, speaking for the first time since Mark had entered the room.
"Yeah, Dr Lewis and I put a cast on Carter's leg while he was sleeping. It was so funny"
Deb almost fell on the floor; she was laughing so hard
"No, it wasn't" said Carter indignantly. "And I had to keep the cast on all through that big trauma."
Mark snorted.
"Now, if would kindly leave me alone. I would like to get dressed" said Carter.
"OK, OK. We're leaving. See you later"
"Bye John. I'm really sorry about all this."
"It's alright Deb. I forgive you. By the way, Mark. Did you tell anyone about this?"
"Only Doug" he said with a mischievous grin as he and Deb left.
Great, thought Carter. That's all I need; Dr Intercom knowing!
