A/N: This is another A/U, pretty much a spur-of-the-moment story inspired by Bad Apple Shadow Play on YouTube (watch it! It's awesome!)...Lyrics from Bad Apple, by Touhou (I think...)

I don't own Naruto.

{{everything i know has been lost to chaos}}

He stares out the window, wondering if it's too little, too late, to change the ever-turning tides. Waves lap at the black, grainy shoreline, steely gray water and snowy white foam contrasting sharply against iron sands. The swooping cliffs overshadow the landscape, primal Gothic arches formed by millions of years of eroding sands, slicing winds, and thrown knives. The horizon and sea are one, the skies gray with cloud.

The first raindrop falls, a fallen angel's tears for his little brother, who has descended so far into the blackness that it's nigh impossible for him to escape.

The heavens open, and an icy deluge coats everything with liquid, and he sighs, a faint hiss through clenched teeth.

His body may side with the evils, the demons, those who will take them from him, but his soul screams in pain each time they are hurt, each time they almost die, each blow struck against them.

He is spiraling into chaos.

Once the brightest hope for a new dawn, the symbol of rebirth, resilience, power, now an avatar of destruction.

And as his body prepares to march against his home, his friends, his family, his heart shatters for the final time.

Uchiha Obito finds his ever-faithful servant dead on the floor, his own katana through his throat, the night of their attack against Konoha. A crumpled note lies beside the body, rapidly cooling now as the last traces of life leave.

Will there ever be a place for the broken in the light? I've done everything I can. If I find a way to change, if I step into the light, then I'll never be the same, and it all will fade to white. Tell Kakashi and Sakura and Naruto I'm sorry.
