Departure.
by Imperial Strife
She pauses at the door, and twists her head around for a final look. He's still seated at the bar, back facing her, and unmoving. A tear rolls down her flawless cheek, but she brushes it away, and shakes her head.
He won't even look at me…
She smiles bitterly, and steps out into the cool autumn air with her bags.
I love you, she whispers as leaves stained with gold swirl up against her, but he doesn't hear her.
He never does.
--
She stumbles down the street in a daze, drawing her coat up close against her body as the merciless wind bites into her bare skin, but it can do nothing for the chill in her heart.
If he had asked me to stay, I would have.
And she cries silently, her vision blurred by tears.
Broken.
--
She doesn't know how she made it to the train station, but it doesn't matter anymore. It frightens her, how hollow her soul has become, devoid of all emotion. She's gotten over the worst of it, but the occasional tear still slides its way down her smooth cheek, only to fall unnoticed to the dirty tiles.
All the world can see how much I love you. All the world, except for the only one that matters. You. I would've given anything for those three words. From you.
All the people around her see is a broken husk, staring blankly ahead, hands placed neatly in her lap. Nobody can hear her screaming, in her mind, as she realises she's spent her life listening for three words that will never come.
But loving him is what she'll always do.
Till the end of time.
--
She can hear the train approaching, in the distance, and her last vestige of hope diminishes with every second. She gets to her feet shakily, and glances at the tiny rectangle of light, at the other end of the departure hall. Her eyes see nothing, because she's only looking for one thing.
Him.
A/N: Review. You know you want to. I won't be updating Secret. anytime soon because I have exams this week.
