I hope you like it. It is a little bit late but I hope you do not mind :) Enjoy! :D
On the plane
Now we were sitting there. Together under a blanket. Ziva sat close to me and she had become very silent. After our little conversation, Gibbs said nothing more; he just closed his eyes again. When I thought he was asleep, I pulled the blanket a little tighter around Ziva and me and took her in my arms.
She shivered slightly, and I took her hand. Snuggling up to me, she hissed reproachfully, "Tony! Gibbs is sitting across from us. He can wake up at any time. What would we do then?"
But instead of letting go, I pulled her even closer. She laid her head on my shoulder. I smiled involuntarily.
"You seem very much against it!"
"Do not imagine anything on that matter. It is just cold!"
"It's okay. It's not that I don't like it."
Then Ziva had to smile slightly as she crossed her fingers with mine.
"Do you promise to come?" she asked softly, looking at the floor.
"I promise," I said quietly and kissed her hair. We grew silent again, and after a while we both fell asleep.
When the plane started to land, I'd woken up and looked at Ziva, who was still sleeping in my arms. I smiled again, until I felt a gaze on me. Looking up, I saw Gibbs staring directly at me. I had to force myself not to flinch and held Ziva firmly in my arms. "Please don't wake up," I thought.
Gibbs was still looking at us and finally he said, "Take care of her. If anything happens, you're dead."
I had been holding my breath and breathed out in relief.
"I'll take care of her!"
Then the plane landed and I woke Ziva gently. She opened her sleepy eyes and looked at me, shocked. Briefly touching her cheek, I murmured that everything was in order. She seemed very relieved, and we went back to the office.
After Tony's Mexico Trip
I immediately went back to headquarters to see Ziva again, and to see if she was okay. I took the elevator upstairs. When the doors opened, I met Ziva. She stopped abruptly at the sight of me and looked at me sadly. She didn't look good. Her hair hung limply on her shoulders and she was tired and tense. Concerned, I went up to her, wanting to put my hand on her cheek. She avoided me.
"Ziva! Did something happen? Are you okay?" I asked, worried.
She looked into my eyes and groaned softly, "You promised..."
So she got into the elevator, her eyes on the floor. I went into it once more. I'd promised her and I was very sorry that I'd had to break it.
"Ziva! Listen to me, please...I wanted to be with you! But I..."
"Tony...let's be honest. I understand...I thought that you had changed…"
I saw her disappointment and flipped the emergency switch. Then I went to her. She backed away, but the doors closed and shut her in. I stood in front of her and lifted her chin with my hand.
"I promised you! Believe me, I wanted to come. But Vance gave me a job and I had to fly back to Mexico to look for Frank. I'm so sorry!"
Ziva looked at me now.
"But why did you not tell me? I would have understood."
"The order came at the last minute. I had to go immediately! I'm really sorry!"
Ziva looked at the floor and said nothing.
"Believe me. I would never willingly miss the naturalization of a friend I really love. From my heart."
She looked up and I couldn't help but kiss her gently.
"I love you too, you idiot!"
I smiled and pulled her into my arms.
"And now we go home and you have a good night's rest."
