"I don't think we should be doing this, Captain." Her tone was very soft; warm even. Her head was warning her to stop this before it carried on any farther. Her heart and her body were sending a different message.
"No, I guess we shouldn't be." He tried to sound convincing, but she wasn't very convinced when his warm, plump lips descended lower so that he was now placing soft kisses along her collarbone.
"Boomer and the Chief," she whispered, trying desperately to keep her composure, "look at what happened to them."
To her disappointment, that caused him to stop his playful exploring of her neck and he straightened, looking down at her with stern eyes. There was something there that she couldn't describe. Regret maybe.
"She was a Cylon," he stated, his voice a carefully measured, even tone. "This," he gestured between them "won't be affecting our duties, will it Specialist?" There was a smile hiding behind his delicious lips, and she couldn't help but form one with her own mouth.
"No," she whispered, desperate to feel more of him on her skin. She reached one arm around the back of his neck, placing her hand there, and pulled his head down to hers.
When they both had to break for oxygen he leaned his forehead against hers and used the hand resting on her back to pull her closer to him. "Besides, you could always claim that a superior officer coerced you into committing highly illegal actions with him and you had no choice but to follow his orders. I don't mind taking the fall if it means we get to share this."
The temperature in the tiny supply closet was getting warmer by the second. She knew she couldn't stop this even if she was in a rational state of mind. With him here, so close, holding her like she was oxygen and his lungs were deprived, she couldn't deny them this moment of closeness.
"You know I would never do that," she answered, playing with the small patch of hair on the back of his neck, twirling them around her fingers. He gave her a reassuring smile and she knew that he knew.
What had started with the accidental brush of his arm against her side had become a full-blown storm of emotional release. She couldn't say that she loved him, but looking into his eyes right now, deep oceans of aqua blue, she knew that they both needed each other.
He was still looking at her, a silent question in his eyes. When she gave a smile of approval, he smiled back. She was lost.
