Adventure Time with Fionna and Cake
Undead Romance
"Fionna are you ready?" Cake called.
"Coming!" Fionna replied, coming up the ladder.
"When are we gonna head to Marshall Lee's house?" Cake asked, "I getting antsy!"
"Relax, we can all go once Gumball and Marshall get here."
The friends were planning on going to Marshall Lee's house for a jam sesh, but Gumball and Marshall had yet to arrive.
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door.
"It's open!" Fionna called.
The door opened and Gumball came up the ladder.
"Hey," he said coolly, winking at Fionna.
"How's it going?" Fionna asked with a smile.
She and Gumball had recently started dating, and to Fionna, it still felt like a dream.
"Not much," he replied, "So, you guys ready to jam?"
"You bet!" said Cake, pulling out her dulcimer. She played a few notes.
Gumball then took out his keyboard he had slung over his shoulder.
He also played a few notes.
"What about you, Fionna?" he asked, "What are you going to play?"
Fionna went into the other room for a minute, then came out with her small harp. "My harp," she responded.
"A harp?" Cake repeated, confused.
"Yup," said Fionna, "Check this out."
She then began to play a steady melody.
Cake then joined in by hitting a few notes every few seconds with her dulcimer.
Then Gumball began to play a short melody that blended well with Fionna and Cake's.
A really catchy tune was formed.
Then, Marshall Lee floated into the room, bopping his head to the beat.
"Sweet beat guys," he said casually, "We should try that at my place."
"Well, nice to see you let yourself in," Fionna joked.
"Hey, the door was unlocked," Marshall shrugged, "So, you guys ready to jam?"
"Yeah!" they all cheered.
"Well, then let's go!" he said, floating out the door.
Fionna, Cake, and Gumball then packed up their instruments and followed Marshall Lee out the door.
As they approached Marshall's house, Gumball noticed a black piece of cloth sticking out of Fionna's backpack.
"Hey, what's that?" he asked.
"Oh, this?" said Fionna, pulling out the cloth, which turned out to be a tank top with a white lightning bolt, "It's part of my jam outfit."
"Looks wicked cool," said Marshall, floating closer to her.
Fionna stepped away, feeling a bit flustered.
Then they arrived at Marshall's house.
As Cake, Gumball, and Marshall got set up, Fionna went into the next room to get changed.
"Okay, you guys ready?" she called.
"Ready," Gumball replied.
Fionna then slowly came out from behind the wall.
Along with her blank tank, she wore a black miniskirt, a black leather jacket, and black knee-high boots.
She struck a few poses before turning to her friends for approval.
"So, uh..." she said, blushing, "What do you think?"
Gumball looked surprised, but he then smiled.
"You look amazing, Fionna."
"Yeah, girl," said Marshall flirtatiously, floating around her in a circle "You're looking hotter than the Fire Kingdom."
"Marshall!" exclaimed Cake.
"Sorry!" he said, floating over to his amp stand, but not before he winked at Fionna.
Fionna grabbed her hair and ran her fingers through it, then sat down and began plucking a few strings on her harp.
A little while later, as they were almost done tuning their instruments, Marshall Lee cried out in frustration.
"Aw Glob!" he said, "Guys I'm going to have to run out and get some strings for my axe bass."
"I'll go with you," said Fionna, placing her harp down on a chair, "You could use the company."
"Cool," Marshall grinned, "Just sit tight, guys. We'll be right back."
"Okay," said Gumball.
Fionna then followed Marshall out the door.
Once they were a short distance away from the house, Fionna broke the silence.
"I don't see why you needed new strings, Marshall," she said, "Your axe looked just fine."
Marshall then turned to face her with a mischievous look on his face.
"You really think that was the reason I brought you out here?"
"What are you talking about?" Fionna asked.
"All I'm saying is," said Marshall, "I think you and me would be a better pair than you and Prince Gumwad."
Fionna stared at him in complete confusion. "Do you have some kind of crush on me?" she said, "'Cause it's kind of weird."
"I'm just saying that we should, you know," Marshall smirked, "Hang out."
"Are you saying that I should cheat on Gumball? Are you wacked?" she told him.
"Hey, girls do that all the time," Marshall shrugged.
"Well, I'm not one of those girls!" she retorted.
Fionna then turned away for a minute and sighed.
"Marshall, I'm happy in my relationship with Gumball," she explained, "I don't understand why you can't see that. I just-"
But before she could finish, Marshall Lee did the unthinkable: he kissed her.
They stood there for a few seconds, then Fionna pushed him away in disbelief.
"Wha-wha... What the flap?!" she exclaimed.
Marshall grinned at her mischievously, waggling his eyebrows.
"Are you crazy?! What was that all about?!" she cried.
"Oh, come on, Fionna," said Marshall, "You can't tell me you didn't enjoy that even a little bit!"
"What difference does it make if I did or not?!" Fionna told him, still trying to come to grips with what had just happened," I just-"
Then, she noticed Gumball standing there, staring at them in complete and utter shock.
"Gumball!" said Fionna, "Listen, I-I can explain!"
Gumball's face went from shock to sadness to anger and to just plain hurt, then he took off into the forest.
"Gumball!" Fionna called after him, "Gumball, wait!"
She then turned to Marshall and growled angrily.
"What?" he asked.
Fionna then punched him in the gut, causing him to double over.
"What was that for?" he asked, half bent over.
"Why do you always have to ruin things Marshall?!" Fionna cried tearfully.
She then took off after Gumball.
Marshall stood there alone, completely confused.
"What did I do?" he asked out loud.
"What did you do?" repeated Cake, who'd watched the entire spectacle go down, "WHAT DID YOU DO?! You kissed Fionna! That's what you did!"
"So what?" said Marshall, "I'm probably not the only guy in Aaa who's wanted to do that!"
"My friend, you have just broken Rule #1 in the world of love: Never kiss a girl when she's in a relationship with another man!" exclaimed Cake, "Especially if that girl's man is standing right behind you!"
"I didn't know he was going to be there!" Marshall responded, "I don't see why he overacted like that!"
Cake shook her head in disappointment.
"How do you think Mo-Chro would feel if I kissed another guy while I was still with him?"
Marshall scratched the back of his head. "I don't now, I guess he'd be pretty upset."
"Exactly!" said Cake, "And that's just what you did to Gumball!"
"Their relationship is probably on the line because of you!"
"Oh Glob!" Marshall said to himself, "I better go fix this."
He then floated off after Fionna and Gumball.
Meanwhile, Fionna was chasing after Gumball.
"Gumball, please wait!" she pleaded.
"Why should I?!" he snapped, sounding angered and hurt, "I'm heading back to the castle. Why don't you go hang out with your new boyfriend?"
"Marshall Lee is not my boyfriend, Gumball," Fionna replied, dodging past a branch, "You are!"
"Well, he should be!" Gumball shot back, still refusing to turn around and look at her.
"Gumball, there is nothing going on between us!" she exclaimed.
Gumball stopped and whipped around. "Then why did you kiss him?!" he demanded.
"He kissed me! Alright?!" she shouted, "I told him not to do it but he wouldn't listen! I told him I was happy in my relationship with you but he wouldn't listen!"
She vented her anger and frustration by punching a nearby tree, making a fist-sized dent in the trunk.
There was a long pause between them; Gumball turned his back on her for a moment to think.
Finally, Fionna broke the silence.
"Gumball, you know I'd never leave you," she told him, "I love you too much to do that."
This revelation caused Gumball to turn around to face Fionna.
"I don't know why he did it," she continued, beginning to tear up, "I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have let it happen."
Gumball began to slowly walk towards her.
"I understand if you want to break up with me," she said, wiping a tear away, "I get it."
She began to turn away, but Gumball suddenly grabbed her hand.
"Now why would I do that?" he asked, his expression now softer than before.
"So, you're not mad at me?" Fionna said hopefully.
"I am feeling a little hurt, yes," Gumball replied, "But I guess I just overacted."
The two then smiled at each other, and shared a kiss.
"So, we're good?" she asked.
"We're good," he confirmed.
Then, the pair noticed Marshall Lee coming out from behind a tree.
"Uh, hey guys," he said awkwardly.
"What are you doing here?" asked Gumball, putting a protective arm around Fionna, clearly still harboring some contempt toward Marshall.
"I wanted to apologize to both of you," Marshall replied.
First, he turned to Gumball.
"Gumball, I'm sorry that I kissed Fionna," he told him, "I don't know what came over me. I'm happy for you two, and I think Fionna's lucky to have a guy like you in her life."
Gumball smiled and nodded in appreciation. "Thanks Marshall."
Then Marshall turned to Fionna.
"And Fionna, I'm sorry that I kissed you," he continued, "I guess I might've had a little bit of a crush on you, and I guess I let that get ahead of me."
Fionna smiled. "That's all I needed to hear," she said, "That you're sorry."
She then stood between both boys.
"Now, before we head back to the house, I want you two to shake hands and promise to never fight over me again."
She waited until Gumball finally extended his hand to Marshall.
"Friends?" he asked.
"Friends," replied Marshall, shaking Gumball's hand, "For now."
Fionna giggled.
"Oh, one more thing." she said.
Then, she hopped up and kissed both boys on the cheek.
"Whoa, what?" they both exclaimed at the same time, "What was that for?"
Fionna pointed to Marshall.
"That was a reminder that while I like you, I like you just as a friend."
Then she pointed at Gumball.
"And that was a reminder that I would never look at another guy, not even if I was locked in a neck brace in front of all the hottest guys in Aaa."
"Would I be one of them?" Marshall asked jokingly.
The trio laughed as they made their way back to Marshall's house.
