Hey guys! First one-shot! yay! depending on the response to this, i might make it into a two-shot or a full on story, we'll see! i recently updated this chapter (i literally just changed one word) because if/when i do continue it, it will fit in with the main plot. anyway enjoy!

It had been four months since Natsu had left the fires of the inferno for an adventure in Earthland. He remembered how he had to hide the red dragon-like scales that covered his skin, his sharp fangs, his blood red eyes and his two dark horns that adorned his head. He was the prince of hell and he remembered vividly his first encounter with a human and it scared the crap out of the inferior being so he'd decided to hide his extraordinary features from the rest of the world. He was now sitting at the large rectangular table in the middle of the dining room when his roommate walked out of the kitchen carrying two plates of breakfast in her delicate hands. Natsu had met Lucy Heartfilia a week after his arrival in Earthland, he'd had nowhere to go and Lucy had kindly offered him a place to stay. Normally, being the prince of hell, he'd rather die than accept the help of a lowly human but he didn't have much of a choice and besides she was pretty, he thought he'd have some fun. Well anyway, it had been four months and the human and the demon had become best friends, they were inseparable.

Lucy placed their breakfast on the table in front of them with a big smile across her face. She sat down opposite him and let out a sigh,

"Man, it's so hot in that kitchen." She giggled

He just laughed back in response and started to eat his breakfast of scrambled eggs, bacon and toast. He looked up to find Lucy had started eating her breakfast too, from this angle he could see her large chocolate brown eyes that always seemed to be full of light and hope, he could see her thin pink lips. He noticed the way her blonde hair fell around her shoulders like starlight over the Earth. She seemed heavenly, like an angel, she was by far the most beautiful girl he had ever met. She was beautiful in every way humanly possible and more, he was undeniably in love with her and he would go to the ends of the Earth to see that smile on her face. Yep he's fallen in love with a human which was fine by him, there were no repercussions. A demon could love anyone they wanted without consequence except for angels, the two species were forbidden to have romantic relations and the offense was punishable by death. However he didn't need to worry about that, he'd fallen for Lucy and she was a human. If only the dense blonde would notice his feelings! She was so clueless when it came to this sort of thing! I mean seriously! He thought, I've scared off every guy that's so much as looked at her! Damn she was dense!

"Hello? Natsu… anyone home?" he was snapped out of his thoughts by Lucy

"Huh? Oh yeah! Sorry I was just dazed," he replied

"Natsu do you want to go for a walk?" she asked cheerfully

"Sure!" he shouted

Lucy walked beside Natsu in Crocus' largest parks, a light breeze tickled her face and the large clouds blocked the warmth of the sun making Lucy shiver. Lucy gazed at Natsu admiring his handsome features, she noticed his angular cheek bones. She saw his beautiful deep onyx eyes and his spiky salmon hair (how did he make that colour look so badass?), she could see his muscles where his vest didn't cover him and a light blush graced her features. She was in love with him, she was so endlessly in love with him but she would never admit it. Realising that she was staring she snapped her head away, turning to face the other direction. He turned his head to look at her and chuckled,

"What's so funny?" she asked

"Your face is all red, are you cold?" he asked with that goofy grin that he always wore

"Y-yeah, something like that…" no way was she going to admit the real reason for her blush

He just laughed and grabbed her arm pulling her along with him through the bright green grass of the park. He was running so fast that when he suddenly changed direction she was thrown off balance and fell over on her back.

"Hey! What was that for?!" she half yelled, half laughed,

He just laughed and smiled, "wow Luce, you really have bad balance,"

She stuck her tongue out and jumped at him, tackling the pink haired boy to the ground,

"Who's got bad balance now?" she asked, laughing at his shocked expression, she rarely ever caught him off guard and when she did, she remembered to savour the look on his face.

He just laughed and smiled up at her, and she smiled back. She was on top of him and he could feel her pressed against him and her breath stirred his hair, he smiled at their position. Suddenly a look of panic crossed her face, only briefly, she then leapt up off of him with a nervous laugh, she must've noticed their position, he thought.

Crap! She thought, I just tackled Natsu! Shit! Ugh, he probably didn't notice anything weird about it…right? He's too dense to notice my feelings, I'm probably just overreacting, she thought.

Recovering from his initial shock, he yelled, "I do NOT have bad balance!"

"Yeah you do, you're even clumsier than me," she teased

"Luce,"

"Yeah?"

"No one's clumsier than you,"

"You're gonna pay for that Dragneel!"

"That's what you th- OOF! Why'd you hit me?!"

"Bahahahahahaah!"

"What's so funny!"

"Your hair is a mess! You look ridiculous!" she screamed

He just grinned, that stupid, smug smile that she had fallen in love with, she never wanted to see it leave his face. She smiled back and enjoyed the peace, it was so calm at the park and Lucy was revelling in the quiet atmosphere. She fell back onto the ground and buried herself in the long green grass. She felt something warm around her shoulders, when she turned her head she saw Natsu lying beside her with his arm wrapped around her shoulders. The blush returned to her face as she let out a little squeak of surprise.

"Somethin' wrong Luce?" he asked

"N-nothing! I-I'm f-fine!" She squeaked

"Whatever you say,"

When they returned from their walk Natsu had gone to take a shower and Lucy had gone to prepare lunch. Having finished his shower Natsu wrapped his towel around him and walked to his room. He felt unusually hot but he decided to dismiss it, he put on his usual outfit and proceeded to dry his hair.

Knock, Knock, Knock!

"Natsu?"

"Yeah Luce?"

"Are you dressed? I need to get your clothes so I can wash them," she called back

"Yeah sure!" he replied as he swung open the door

"So where are your dirty clo-" She was stunned, all she could do was stare

"Yo Luce? Anyone home?"

"Y-Your… You've got…You're a…" She stuttered

"What are you talking about?" he asked as he turned around to look in the mirror,

"Crap! Luce I can explain," he said as he came to realise that his scales, fangs and horns had returned.

He was panicking now, trying to come up with an excuse. She was going to be terrified of him now, she was probably trembling in fear, he didn't want to look. When he opened his eyes and calmed down he realised that she was talking to herself.

"Ugh! Of course he's a demon! Nothing ever goes right for me does it! If he had been anything else, anything else at all! If he was a human then this could work, I…an angel can't love a demon…if they find out…they'll kill me. Why do these things always have to happen to me! Why did I have to fall in love with him…" She mumbled the last part

"Luce?" He asked in shock, she was an Angel.

"Shit! Did I say that out loud?"

"Yeah you did and…Luce, I-I love you too, I love you so much," he said, his voice hoarse

"This can't work I'm so sorr- wait…What did you say?"

"I said I love you and I don't care about stupid rules, if you love me as much as I love you then we can make this work. Luce I won't let anyone hurt you, ever, no one's going to kill you and besides, nothing's stopped me from breaking rules before."

With that he leaned in towards her, his breath stirred in her hair as his lips captured hers, it was soft, gentle and loving. It was a kiss filled with all the tenderness and warmth of love, a love that had been burning ever since they met. The kiss deepened, it became full of passion and fire, it was intense and they lost themselves in each other. He kissed a trail up from her lips, across her cheek and to her ear.

"Luce…" he panted

"Yeah Natsu?" She whispered back

"You're mine now," he said, his tone low and possessive

With a sigh of relief Lucy let her wings free for the first time in months, she felt so free. Natsu trailed his hands up her back stroked the place where wing met skin. He smirked and captured her lips again. Lucy wound her hands into his pink hair, she never wanted to let him go and he felt the exact same way. Lucy pulled away first, struggling for air.

"We'll be okay," He assured her

"I know," she replied
