Ellis and Coach pushed against the door as Nick and Rochelle finished locking up and covering the door. The screams and groans from the zombies outside were slowly getting annoying.

"Okay. All finished." Nick said and Ellis stepped away from the door.

"Ya know, one time my buddy Keith-" he started but Rochelle cut him off.

"Not right now Ellis." She said quietly and he just nodded.

"Hey, there's stairs over here! Let's go investigate." Coach said and Rochelle walked past Ellis.

"Ellis, stay here, look for supplies. Don't leave." Nick demanded.

"Yeah yeah, whatever." He mumbled and he listened as they walked up the stairs. He mumbled under his breath as he started searching through a few cabinets that were located in the small room. He found med packs, ammo, a few guns, Molotov Cocktail, and some gas cans with gas in them.

He was looking on a shelf when he noticed a picture frame. He picked it up, wiping the dust off. He stared at the picture for a moment, memories from his past flooding back. In the picture was a girl in her early twenties standing with a man much older than her, probably her father. Her long brown hair was curled and to one side. Her green eyes were noticeable in the picture. They were captivating.

Just like Judy's.

There was an ache in his chest when he thought about her. She was his first girlfriend, his first kiss, his first love. He had lost her when they were running for their lives one day after a hoard of zombies over ran a safe zone. He remembered the fear and terror in her eyes as they ran. Her grip would loosen ever so slightly the farther they got. Eventually, she was gone. He hadn't seen her since.

He put the picture down and took a deep breath. He had no idea if she was still alive or not. He hoped and prayed she still was, but there was no way of telling. But he wanted to have hope. He started looking around when he found a permanent marker and found a clear spot on the wall. He started writing.

To my love Judy.

I am alive and I haven't forgot.

I'm hoping you're alive and well everyday

But that's hoping for a lot.

If only I could see you one for time

And hold you and listen to everything you had to say.

My love for you hasn't dissolved

For we will meet again some day.

If you see this, stay safe.

As buddy Keith would say,

Hang on for the ride.

-Ellis

He sat back and looked over his handy work. He wanted her to see it. He had always had a bad way with words but he wanted to leave a message. He heard the others walking down the stairs and he got up quickly.

"Did ya find anything?" Coach asked when he saw the young man. Ellis nodded towards a table that had everything on it.

"All there sir." He said and they all split up the supplies. As soon as they were ready, Ellis stood at the door. He looked back one final time at the wall and pulled the bar off the door.

"Let's go guys." He said and led the pack out.
