Love at First Sight

Ling Xiaoyu hurried to Mishima High. It was Xiaoyu's first day of high school. She ran quickly up the steps but she wasn't quick enough. The principal was already standing by the door, reprimanding the latecomers. She gulped nervously, walking up to the door. The principal shot her a nasty glare. "And you are…?" he asked the frightened first-year. "M-my n-n-name is Ling Xiaoyu." She stammered, waiting for the answer. The principal looked mockingly at Xiaoyu's pigtails. "We're off to a bad start pigtail girl. Stay after school at the detention room. Now get to class!" the angry principal barked. "Oh no…" Xiaoyu whined.
At the end of the day, Xiaoyu would have considered giving up school. Everything was a mess. At Math she got a C on her first pop quiz, in history a C- for the seatwork, and in Science a D+ for a weird recreation of the earth. Plus, she had detention. "I hate high school…" she muttered, walking sulkily to the detention room. She saw a handful of students there. She surveyed the room and took a seat beside a girl her age. "What're you in for?" Xiaoyu asked her fellow "prisoner." The girl brushed away her brown bangs and replied sheepishly, "I spilled all the chemicals at the lab. It blew up and so did the professor. He sent me here. I'm Miharu, by the way," the girl answered, stretching out her hand. Xiaoyu took it, replying, "Ling Xiaoyu." As they pulled their hands away, Xiaoyu's eyes fell upon a totally gorgeous guy about her age, with spiky black hair and a body that simply screamed, "Bad boy" but Xiaoyu happened to be attracted to that sort of charm. He looked up, and seeing Xiaoyu, he smiled.
"Cute, huh? He's Jin Kazama, the school big shot. He's the principal's grandson. I wonder why the younger species always look better than the oldies!" Miharu laughed. Xiaoyu was not listening to her new friend. She couldn't believe it, but she just fell in love with the guy she hasn't even met. Yet, Xiaoyu thought. She stood up and walked towards him.
Uh-oh, Jin Kazama thought. A pretty girl was coming closer…ever closer, too close that it was scary. Oh Jin, you moronic idiot! Do you have to smile at all the pretty girls you see?! He thought angrily. This girl was different to him, though. She had her thick black hair put up in two pigtails and a killer figure. She was saturated with little-girl innocence that amazingly reminded Jin of his mother. She took a seat beside him, then whispered, "Hi, I'm Ling Xiaoyu."
"Jin Kazama."
