Disclaimer: I do not own A Tale of Two Cities. I wouldn't really want to, honestly...
Hello, loves! It's Phyre here again, writing more poetry about books I've been forced to read in class. Don't get me wrong; I like them (usually). Though, they're not the books I'd pick up and read if I had the choice. I like more contemporary books, but whatever floats your boat... I hope you like it! I wrote it in homeroom at my high school, inspired by my review of the chapter for the "surprise" quiz be were going to take in class. She always gave us "pop" quizes on the chapters that made little to no sense to me or half of the class, she being my teacher. But I'm glad she did (for once). After all, I did get to write this because of it. So read and review! I want to know your deep literary thoughts. They are thought-provoking, and I need all that I can get of that sort on summer break. Gotta keep that big pile of mush in my skull exercised somehow.
Monseigneur Gorgon Laid to Rest
Silent, sleeping, the Gorgon's still
While a Perseus called Jacques below window sill
Crept up vines and around a crimson moat
To slash Monseigneur Gorgon's throat.
Within his hand a sharpened stake
Vengeance ripe for him to take
Drove silver through his slow-beating heart
And stopped the Gorgon's deadly part.
One stone face more upon the roof
By the word of rein and word of hoof
The Gorgon's spell was soon to end
And to Hell his soul to send.
While one Monseigneur was to die
A thousand in his full-made bed do lie
Until rebellion they shall stay
The sound of footsteps to drive them away.
